Default HEMI power

Ok, guys and gals, dont laugh at this one...
I have an '03 Ram QC, SLT, 2WD, HEMI powered, completely stock. A friend of a friend also has a HEMI, and tells of"lighting up the tires as he pleases". I dunno, but I've not been able-even once-to light 'em up. I have the anti-spin differential, and wonder if that is the difference. Or, is something wrong with my engine, with 3300 miles?I get ariund 12.5 mpg city, and maybe 18-20 hwy. Changed oil once already, full synthetic.
So, my question is:
Is this typical performance, or is Blue sick???
Thanks!
Homee

I'd call BS on your friend. I can chirp mine a little on take off. If he has the 03 Hemi, he may have done the TMR mod.

Your anti-slip diff/limited slip diff will transfer the power to both rear wheels making it harder for your engine to make them "light up" (lose traction). Your friends vehicle evidently does not have this feature and he is really only "lighting up" one tire (check his tire marks on the road)...in reality, all other things being equal, your truck should be faster off the line. The 03 SRT-4s didn't have a LSD and the 04s do...ETs have dropped accordingly.... [sm=smiley5.gif]

Finally, My 5.9 can do something a HEMI can't. The 360 can spin'em with ease. Still would like a Hemi, though.

Wow, if you get 18-20 mpg on the highwway, then it looks like you have trained your Hemi to sip fuel. That's a pretty good accomplishment. If it's trained to sip fuel, it doesn't know how to the chug gas required to spin those tires. I layed a long twin patch on my way home from the dealer. I couldn't get better than 12-13mpg under any conditions my first few tanks of gas. I babied my throttle for the next 4-5 tanks, and then I was getting 16mpg, but I couldn't spin my tires anymore. Since I've got a Hemi, and it would definitely be too embarrassing to loss a street race, I'm driving like a bandit now. It's more fun now. My gas mileage is sitting around 13mpg, but my truck is feeling faster than ever. I can only chirp the tires now, but that's because I got some fatter grippier street tires that shouldn't let me spin at all.

Also your set-up may be hurting you. Axle ratio, tire size & width, 2wd vs 4wd, RC vs QC, SB vs LB

Re: the 18-20 mpg hwy miles:
I set the CC on 72-73 mph. Being mostly flatland here, we ain't got too many hills to climb.
Thanks for the feedback, as i now feel better about the "lack of burnouts'
May you all have a great weekend!!!
Homee

PS if i tail a big rig(not too close) I'll get 21-22 mpg...
