Soooo, are you kind of saying the samething, only better, than I did? I know every car I have ever had, when driven back to the midwest (Iowa/Illinois areas), ran bunches better, i.e., stronger, than here. They didn't get better gas mileage, but boy, what a difference that heavy air made. I'm hoping (with all my heart) to be able to make a trip back that way this fall. That should be the telling sign. Heck, even a little Yamaha IT=175 motorcycle I had would loft the front end in third gear back there! I would think the fella with the Denver Saleen was running way too rich in Pitt. I suppose with computers in the cars now that that is compensated for as altitude changes - go lower, lean it out and vise versa. We have to run pretty lean jets in carbs here and really mess with idle adjustment and air screws to get carbs to run really good. That picture was shortly after I bought the car and only had the CAI installed. Thanks for the compliment. I'm approaching 60, and I really love my Charger dave

so your first official act was to get those unneeded extra layers of rubber off? i would think that if you were achieving a perfect mixture in denver, that when there was more oxygen in pittsburgh, you would run lean...an extreme example would be taking an untuned car, and putting alot of nitrous to it....since the point of the nitrous is to introduce compounded amounts of oxygen into the combustion process... right? or am i backwards? and while i am not a huge fan of the charger, i definately see the allure...but the charger just isnt for me...im glad that so many people do like them though...

To be honest I haven't been to the track, but I know that the Jet stage 2 is advancing the timing due to the ping when it is over 100 degrees at 4000 RPM. I have asked prior but no one exactly knows what the JET chip does. I presume tricking the mass air flow sensor to think it is at a higher altitude or something of the like, but dyno results do show a 13 hp increase. With the vehicle at stock on the Superchips I do not have the detonation situation so timing has to be effected. Bosting the octane over 95 has seemed to cure it. As far as my reasoning towards the SRT-300 C performance manufacturing variances have been known to cause increases or decreases in HP from like car to like car on the assembly line which may account for part of it. My previous track time could also effect my ability to hang as well as having the programer set so I can manually shift at a much higher RPM. A lot of factors to consider out side of HP and Torque... a lot.

Just HATE the first layer of rubber . OK, have to rethink this mixture problem the guy from Denver had. He would have been running, ummm, way too lien in Pitt. You're right. Sorry. I got myself confused (well, I'm on medication ). He should have gone to fatter jets, and probably more air and maaybe a bit more timing in Pitt, depends on what his engine wanted. But definitely fatter jets to take advantage of the heavy air. I'm surprised he didn't burn a piston, or worse. dave

So what does one need to do to a Charger Daytona to allow it to shed a layer of rubber like that? kOnO

you are the only person whom i have ever heard call a mustang a tang...dont you mean "stang"? what is done to your 95 gt, and what does it run... the srt8 has an advertised 425hp, but that has been proven to be under rated...

gas isn't expensive, i hate how everyone shits a brick about it. Let's say the car gets 18Mpg and 18K per year... $3.00 for 1gal = 18 mile $30.00 for 10gal = 180 miles $300.00 for 100 gal = 1,800 mile $3,000 gal for 1000 gal = 18,000 miles For a poor college student who can't spare more then $5, wouldn't cheaper gas saving you hundreds, be a positive for you? Unless it's the complaining you're complaining about. I think it does get annoying hearing to people complain about gas prices, especially on the news, but they have every right intention and good reasons too.. Just my 2 cents. -Matt- Ok, so lets assume your poor college student decides to get a honda instead that gets 25 mpg. (keep in mind this college student isn't that poor or he wouldn't be looking at cars that cost $30K but I digress.... 25mpg - 18mpg = 7 miles for each additional gallon of gas. If your student drove 15,000 miles per year (a reasonable average) that would equate to Charger = 15,000 \ 18 = 833 gallons of gas. Honda = 15,000 \ 25 = 600 gallons of gas. 233 gallons of gas at $3.00/gallon is $699.00 / year extra to drive the Charger. So it is an extra $58.50 / month ($14.62/week) to drive a charger with 340hp vs a honda with 200 (or so). Alot of money, but not enough to base a $30,000 car purchase on. Michael Edit was due to my lacking math skills.. PS - I stand by the previous point, gas is an expense, but its not worth basing the car you purchase and have to live with on.
