i am looking at swapping out the 2.2 turbo 11 for a 2.5 out of a spirit
just needed to know if there is anyhing in paticular like computer or any extra wiring that i might need to keep a watch out for.
i also found an 87 shelby z in really good shape with t-tops it has no engine in it just the trans. and wiring. so i wanted to go ahead and drop in a 2.5 since the 2.2 is already out.

With either car you will need to swap out the computer with the correct unit that will support the 2.5L fuel curve. You can probably find a computer for the Spirit since they where available with the 2.5 turbo, but you won't find one for the Shelby Z. The Shelby Z uses a different computer set up and the 2.5L turbo was never available for the application. The only thing you could do with the Daytona is to have a custom calibrated computer made so that you could drop the 2.5 in it with no issues. I have heard that some people have used the 2.2 turbo computer on a 2.5 turbo engines, but they got around the fuel curve problem by adding +20% injectors. I would suggest to get the re-calibrated computer though since its really not the much more$$ compared to buying the +20 injectors....
I'm currently putting a 2.5 TII in one of my Omni GLH's and I will be doing the same thing by have a custom computer made for the car using the 2.5L.
Here's a couple of place that can put together a custom calibration for you....
