Default for those of you with cai

I was wondering if a cai or short ram intake will improve your gas mileage any IF you can keep your foot out of the throttle. I kind of think that the addition of a new intake would increase mpg because the motor wouldn't have to work so hard to suck in air. Can someone help me out? Thanks

Yes, it can indeed improve fuel mileage. How much though I don't know, but it won't be ground breaking.

I have the Mopar Cold Air Intake and my mileage went up maybe 1 or 2 mpg. Yea, I keep my foot in it a lot. I get about 26. FYI, check out sport compact car this month. Someone wrote in about using a cold air or short intake. The conclusion was that the cold air is always the best way to go.

silver surfer -- just a little edit to your post...cai is not ALWAYS the best way to go, but it will give you more power, and is better in areas that dont get excessive rain. SRI is better for areas that get tons of rain, because the intake is so much higher and farther from the water on the street. If that is the case, I'd get the intake that switches between sri and cai.
