I think originally that DC was looking at some sort of random dropping of cylinders as the vehicle was cruising. When you needed the extra power the computer would bring all cylinders back on line. I'm not aware of anything like this now.

Based on what Allpar.com reports, it sounds like you're running at 4 cylinders at idle or steady-state speed. 25-26 mpg is probably going to be the best you're gonna get with a V8 that size (driving habits and drafting may notch another 1-2 mpg)... [&:]

Who is getting 25 mpgs for their 5.9L. I'm getting ten less if lucky but thats part of the deal. I've been wondering the same thing though about a performance chip or module and had heard hints that dc was coming out for one for the R/T but haven't seen anything yet.

UPDATE. The 2005 300 C will have this feature. It will run on 4 cylinders until you need additional power and then everything wil come back to life. Speedvision had the new 300 on the roadtest show with Tommy Kendall. They gave the car a glowing review and said that model will replace the Concord and current 300, but not the Intrepid.
