Default newb question

hey just got meself a nice dakota quad cab with the 4.7, but so far my only gripe with it is i never realized with the transfer case/tranny i got it is AWD all the time. is there anyway around that short of removing the front driveshaft or changing parts? its nice to have AWD, but i think it be good for gas mileage, acceleration, etc if there was someway i could have JUST RWD not as much drivetrain power loss and so forth.

probably a pointless question, unless it was designed to only have 2WD option theres probably nothing i can do about it

but im sure ill be back with more worthwhile questions in the future im not in a hurry to mod this truck but it looks like it will be a lot easier to work on then my trans am, with the big tires i can easily get under it with my creeper and no jack or lift! sweet!
