fatboy88 01-21-2007, 08:43 PM my 2000 neon has drive but no rev and in netural it goes forward but in rev and park it acts like its in a bind
I have lost my hub cap, so an original one at the dealership is $125.
I bought cheap plastic replacement for $10, looks like crap.

Nicole6305 04-09-2007, 05:03 PM I have a 2005 Neon and it has 42K miles on it. Within the last couple of months it has completely fallen apart. The CV joints has had to be replaced as well as the transmission had a leak in it. Now there is something in the electrical system that is draining the battery, or so I think. If I can get it crunk all of the light flicker and when I press the gas if the radio is on it pops real loud. When it does not crank it clicks and will not turn over. I am starting to wonder if there is anything good about this car.

BlueThunder07 05-18-2007, 12:43 PM Hey, I have had a 2003 dodge neon sxt for about a month now. when i bought it everything was running fine. well a week ago. it started to shift wrong. i was scared that it was the transmission. well i looked under my hood and my front top motor mount was broke so i bought a new one and replaced it and it ran great. for twenty minutes, then i got under the car becuase there was a really bad rattling sound and sure enough my bottom motor mount was broke so i just fixed that yesterday. well its stilll doing it and when i stick on the E brake and stick it in drive there is a real weird rattling sound right next to my timing belt or what ever that belt is called. does anyone have an idea on what it might be...thank you
jetas454ss 05-31-2007, 11:57 PM ariter guys i have a 2000 neon. N when i have the car in reverse or drive it seems to sputter. N when i take off from a stop it sputters for like 10 secs. n wont go past 15MPH no matter how hard i stomp the gas. u guys have any suggestions on what to do??

neon_leon 07-07-2007, 09:54 PM fatboy88 check your shifter cables make sure there not out of adjustment. the is and adjustment on the base of the shifter just take out the center consol.

JimmyKman 08-21-2007, 10:44 PM -Sounds similar to my problem: I have a 2000 Neon with a 2.0 and a three-speed automatic trans.The engineloses HP at load, either uphill, on the highway; or during hard accelleration. AC affects this, too. I found good fuel delivery (45PSI at full volume), and good compression, but low vacuum at idle, around 15 inches with the AC on (at idle) and 18 with the AC off. I can watch the vacuum gauge move up and down as I turn the AC on and off. I checked the timing and belt and put a new belt on, though it didn't need one and replaced the plugs but it did not help. I can't run this car up a any kind of grade without downshifting. -Anybody have an idea?
neon_leon 08-22-2007, 10:21 PM my 96 neoncar did that but it also reved up high when ac was turned on I changed the tps sensor and the air intake sensor (both sensors on throttle body) and that solved all the problems.
JimmyKman 08-23-2007, 01:05 PM Call off the search! Thanks, everyone, for your help. I will save all of the tips and advice for future reference. As it turns out, the problem was indeed low compression, as well as low vacuum. The compression checker was cheap/faulty and when we put a gtood one on, it was obvious; cylinders 1,3 and 4 cranked at 120-130PSI and #2 cranked at 110PSI. The previous owner had the wrong plugs installed. They were too long and the piston most have collided with it because there was no ceramic left; not burned, just completely missing. The debris must have gotten into the cylinder and rings and scored things up pretty bad. This 2.0 SOHC engine is toast. Unless anyone knows of a cheap fix, I can drive it around indefinitely, but it will always give me trouble on hard accelleration and uphill climbs.
GettinStarted 09-20-2007, 12:31 PM I have a 1995 Dodge neon.. I did not drive the car for 2 weeks because I needed to update the sticker on the car. Once I got in the car to drive it, it drove for about 1/2 a mil and gave out on me. I am not sure why, but it worked fine before those two weeks. I was told that it it the fuel pump, because gas was put in from the hood and it worked fine, and then shuts off after a period of time. I was told it was trash at first and that didnt help buying carburetor cleaner. I also changed the fuel filter yesterday and its still not craking up all the way. Boughta fuel pump relay and nothing. So I am going to buy a fuel pump but need to know how do i do it myself? A mechanic gave me a estimate for it for $600.
manda521 10-01-2007, 10:40 PM I have had my 2000 neon for 4 years..i used to love it..i have put so much money into it..starter,rear main seal..waterpump,i have this sputtering in the front of my car ..now as of today my car will do ghostly things...alarm will go off ..whenever it wants..dome light stays on..and locks won't stop clicking...i hate this car and i need help

manda521 10-14-2007, 08:04 PM All i have to say about the same probs ur having with your..i took it to a dealer they want 800 dollars to fix it they said it all electrical and my wires all all screwed up...they also said that my car could die at anytime cause the alarm system can lock the driveshaft and shut the carr down..i think we are screwed anyone have any ideas???:eek:

My problem turned out to be the remote relay took them 3hrs to fix it simple part just hard to get to it's way up under the dash above the radio they told me it had burnt and they had to replace the plug as well . good luck with yours i hope you can get it fixed

I have a 2006 Dodge Neon. It started "missing" when I would drive it over 70 MPH, so for the longest time I was able to keep it under 70 and drive it just fine (the check engine light is on, too). Now it's started "missing" all the time and I'm not sure what's wrong with it. We just rebuilt the transmission, the service guy we took it to thought it might be the fuel filter so he replaced that but no luck. Anyone had this before? It feels like something electrical, like one of the wires isn't connecting when it should.

KidNicholas32 11-20-2007, 12:52 PM Okay so my girlfriend has a 2005 neon, manual transmission, about 42k miles. Normally the thing runs just fine, no real huge issues with it. Well until the other day. She tried to start it, couldn't, but when she gave it a ton of gas she got it to turn over but once she got down to normal idle rpm's, it kicked off. She was on the corner by an instant oil place who cleaned her fuel injection system, changed the oil etc., and she was good for about a week or so. Then the same thing started happening again. When she guns it, she can get it going and as long as the RPM's are going up, there is no issue, but at an idle, the car will stall. She thinks alternator, I think it could be the fuel pump but I'm open to anything from anyone that may have had something like this or it sounds familiar. Could it be a bad sensor like an O2 sensor?
lgutter 01-17-2008, 11:19 PM My car was "missing" and having "ghostly" problems. I taped down the sensor button on the driver door to stop the "ghostly" thing from happening and it worked. As for my car "missing" I replaced the spark plug wires myself which only cost $25-$30 bucks.
lgutter 01-17-2008, 11:32 PM The other day my neon started overheating, something that never happened before. I pulled over to take a look under the hood and realized that I did not have ANY antifreeze. I refilled it and drove it three blocks to my house. By the time I pulled in the garage it was overheating AGAIN. I came back to take a look at under the hood several hours later to see a stream of oil leaving the garage from my car. I think I might need a new oil pan and gasket but I'm not sure. Any input would greatly appreciated.
mattmartinez2002 01-18-2008, 11:50 AM wuz up!! im new here, i have a 2002 dodge neon having a little problem i can't keep the car to stop sputtering at an idle or when i take off from a stop i cant go pass 20 mph. i changed my o2 sensor and that wasn't it and i just might change my m.a.p sensor see if thats it. let me know your input on this
tacklen74 01-18-2008, 03:12 PM hey hope someone can help me i have a 96 dodge neon SOHC. its a manual and i swapped the SOHC to a 98 DOHC. at first it ran but it would take forever to crank over i started it like twice and it ran like crap sounded like a vaccume leak so i found them i replaced an EGR gasket and i fixed the leak in my PCV valve when i tried to start it again i wouldnt start i clicked like on the first and 20th try but now it wont do anything no clicking or anything all my gauge lights work and my headlights i got the battrie checked and its alright. got the starter checked and it was ok. i checked the codes but the only thin that it had on it was disconnected coolent temp sensor so i fixed that and it still wont run i also checked all grounds and replaced the battrie terminals. please if anyone can help me i would really appricate it thanks.

someone told me its the daytimesensor..i dont know where to start to look for it or what it looks like.

inthewerks 02-11-2008, 03:57 PM hey everyone. heres my problem. 05 sxt auto tranny. in neutral, i cant rev the rpm's up. it stutters real bad at first then picks up like normal. also, above 2500 rpm's in drive, it starts to miss ever so slightly i can hardly feel it but i know its there. replaced plugs, wires and went msd for replacement coil. fuel system checks ok. any thoughts? tps maybe?

LIBRA_099 06-04-2008, 10:32 PM Hey i have a 2002 Neon Se and when i turn on the A/c it blows warm air and when i looked under the hood at the lines the sending line was cold but the condensor was warm and not even the slightest bit cold. And the kicker was i just had the A/c filled 3 weeks ago. Any suggestions?

RPGGUY07 08-03-2008, 05:13 PM hey guys i have a problem with my 04 neon se. the thing is since i bought the car used its previous owner was in a wreck so wen they fixed the car from the front whoever put the front bumper back on didnt do a good job i just noticed this there is a gap on my headlights were the bumper is suppose to go ok well wen i installed my intake i did not notice the gaping hole so wen i was washing my car i notice i could see my intake filter and how it was soaking wet!!! i was thinking of buying a shield or cover sumthin that would protect it from any water coming in through the hole in the body since i figured it would cost way more to actually take it to a body shop so they could actually fix it. so any ideas on how i can seal the hole and cover my intake so water wont get in?? does anyone think a heat shield would do anygood for that?
sevans 08-13-2008, 10:37 PM My 98' Dodge Neon is making a continuous scraping noise when I'm in drive or reversing. The noise is originating from the right front tire area. But when I brake the noise stops. I don't know what the noise could be. I'm also unable to get this repaired for at least six weeks, is it safe to drive?

ac1988 09-23-2008, 02:24 PM So, I took it in for diagnostics... but I guess I’m bringing it home to do the tune-up, it’s got almost 80k and apparently needs new spark plugs, a new air filter, and fuel injector cleaner... any suggestions? Should it run fine and get better mileage after all that is fixed and not start misfiring, and the engine light will go off?
