Whining of the rearend
Hi Folks, I have a problem. My `98 Ram (5.2/318cui with Autotranny) sounds like a mill in the rearend. There´s always a little orbig whining depending on the speed. What could it be? The truck gots 47Kmiles on the ticker and 33´s tires without changing the 1:4.10 gear.I wonder it could be the ring and pinion or the bearings. Is this difficult to do it myself, if I get the parts?
Special greetings to Amanda, Mike
|
Whining of the rearend
Definately could be the ring/pinion or the bearings... Since it's still driveable, I'd lean towards bearing just getting worn and needing replacement... but that's a shot in the dark without actually hearing it...
The job is nottoo difficult, just make sure everything went in the same way it came out. I know that sounds silly, but still... LOL! I mean, it's all right there... if you've got a mechanic's touch... then you should definately be able to handle it yourself. :):) And a special greeting to you, Mike! {<--- a hug... :):)} ~Amanda |
