Man I want this setup!! I'm 'bout ready to order a Go Mango Daytona but I can't get over this trim level and color. This of course is the pitcture from the dodge web site. It appears to be a Dayton with the black chin spoiler, blackout grill and the blackout wheels. I'm not sure what color it is either. The color doesn't seem to match up with any of their current offerings. It probably has the tail in the back also.
Is this some sort of concept / prototype or is this something that is being offered and I am just clueless? I have been speaking to customerassistmkt@daimlerchrysler.com about this matter but they are coming up clueless on this particular scheme.
Any info will be appreciated.

RE: What about this Charger, what the heck is it!!!!!
Its a bad photoshop of a Yellow Daytona. Thats what was originally shown on that page. They just colored it grey and then used a darker grey to cover up the hood grahics. The grille and R/T emblem are Daytona as well. You cannot buy one of these... you would have to make it yourself from a regular R/T and lots of parts.

Photoshop, ya think? Why in the heck would they do that?
For crying out loud... do you really think that Chyrsler went out and spent the huge bucks it would take to duplicate a photo shoot exactly as it was in the first place just the change the color of the car that was shown on their web page. And the on top of that they would put all sorts of mods on a regular R/T to make it seem like a Grey Daytona without the graphics. Hell, even the wheels are the Daytona wheels.
Some marketing person who is in charge of the website, took the photo of the Top Banana Daytona they originally had and manipulated it to be grey. They left everything else on the photo. THATS why it looks like a Daytona, because it IS a Daytona. They just changed the color to confuse the feeble minded.

i think the r/t and daytona have the same wheels
my theory is that it is the look alike kit. probably promoting mopar parts indirectly
The Daytona wheels and the R/T wheels are different in that the Daytona's have blacked out pockets. If you look closely at the picture you can see that they are black between the spokes. A Daytona comes standard with the chin spoiler, the black-out grille, and the red R/T emblem. The only thing that makes this picture "seem" to be a prototype/concept (or non-Daytona) is the color and the missing hood graphic. I dont know why it is so hard to believe the obvious here. They photoshop'd the original picture of a Top Banana Daytona (if not photoshop some sort of photograph software for graphic artists). They changed the color in the picture from yellow to some grey color that was close to the Bright Silver and Silver Steel being offered. Then they airbrushed out the hood graphic using a darker grey so that is looks "ok". Stop thinking that everthing you see on the web is some fantastic behind the scenes production. It marketing and those in marketing find the fastest and easiest ways to accomplish their goals. In this case it was a computer program that did the trick for them.

Well of course I understand why they would photshop a picture vs doing a photo shoot. What I didn't know is they had a Top Bananna Daytona in the same picture on the web page earlier.
My real question is why would they put a "rendering" of a Charger with a color / trim combination that isn't available on their main charger web page? I would think it would generate more questions then anything...
RE: What about this Charger, what the heck is it!!!!!
It is a fair question to be sure. I think they are realizing that the Daytona peices look better on these cars than all of that chrome trim around the grille. I sure hope COCharger is correct when he says you can add the Daytona peices later on. I think a Steel Grey RT with the Road and Track package with the daytona peices, (Sans graphics of course) would be the trickest setup. Lower it in inch, throw some Torque Thrust 2's on it and wow...

I could not have said it better myself. If I could configure a charger "my way," it would would be just as you described. R/T, Road and Track, Steel Grey, Blackout Grill, Black Chin Spoiler, Black Whale Tail, Black Wheel Cutouts (Road and Track has that already), skip the dayton graphics and the dayton seats. I good with the stock wheels. Maybe I'd add an aftermarket black stripe below the doors.
I'm days if not minutes away from telling my dealer to order me a charger. I will have the dayton blackout "stuff" one way or another, but I'm not real interested in buying a $30k plus car and then spending another $1,000 or so to get a new grill, spoilers, etc. so I guess its a dayton for me. I'm not trying to sound disappointed nor would I be disappointed, but if I had the car pictured as an option I may not be go man going.
Maybe Aliyah can share some thoughts on this matter..are you out there? And YES you are more then welcome to join in.
