Anyone have any minor or major problems with their trucks yet? I dropped mine off tonight with a list of things, you might want to take a look under your new 2005 Dakota's, I have a 4.7 liter clubcab with an automatic and the towing package, so I am assuming this has the 3.92 gear ratio. Anyways, most dealerships will not upsell to you needed warranty work, you need to complain about it. I took a quick look at the undercarriage of mine on a lift today.

I found that both front struts were leaking oil, it has a minor differential pinion seal leak, the rear drum brakes have a real bad pulsation stopping from highway speeds. These were the main things. Minor are the right front shoulder belt won't move,it is locked up so you can't use it and some trim bs. Anyone else, overall I like the truck, what kind of MPG you guys getting, I get around 400 miles per tank so its roughly 18 mpg.

I've put 3,000 miles on mine, and I've had no problems. The new Dakota is a magnificent piece of machinery. It looks great. It sounds great (w/ the help of Flowmaster). It rides great. I love mine. Then again, I ordered mine direct and started driving it the day it arrived. I never have been fond of the idea of buying a car off of a lot, not knowing how long it could have been setting there without being driven. That can't be good for a vehicle.

Hmm, well with 13,500 miles:

Transmission SUCKS!!! 5 speed auto, shifting problems when pulling light trailer this winter...dealer/Dodge's excuse, the weather was to cold for the transmission...45*F out and had been on the road for 6 hours already [:@]

Passenger window goes up VERY slow....new regulator, everything greased up good, still does it and no word on a fix yet.

Passenger sunshade came loose before first oil change

Brakes vibrate BAD when you get on them at 80mph

Thats bout all I have found so far....

no real big problems with my 2003 dakota, 21333 miles on it as of this post. highlights:

had no passenger seatbelt buckle when i took delivery -- fixed under warranty
one 4x4 logo on the bed, driver side -- my truck is 2wd, it's still there for mindwarp purposes
factory coolant suddenly disappeared from my reservoir last month -- filled it up with prestone
engine is missing two cylinders -- my fault, i should have ordered a 5.9[:@]

5 heater cores in 2.5 yrs and the whole dash needs to come out to fix.
intermittant driveability problems that took 3 shops to figure out. (crank ignition sensor)
Intermittant P0420 code and the O2 sensors are replaced alot.
drivinig lights burn out quickly.
bumper paint peeling (97-99 problem)

no It kind of sounded like a ticking.

It turns out my transfer ase is not a total rebuild It just needs a new chain and Tail saft housing ( I think that is what they called it)
They should have it done for me tomarow.

Has anyone else had any T-case problems

With 18xxx miles on mine I have had the following problems:

The steering is extremely jerked and whines at slow speeds

Just had to have the rear suspension taken out to grease all of the bushings because it was moaning and groaning so bad you could not here the radio

The front sway bar keeps coming loose

Sometimes the transmission engages into gears and sometimes it does not. I have to go through the gears to get it into D about twice a week, can't reproduce the problem at dealer so they can't fix it.

Don't get me started about the brakes!!!

The only problem with my 01 Dakota was the noises it started making as off 10 months ago. When the noise started it was on "take off" from lights, it was a wierd popping sound. Which later lead to creaking sounds as I went around turns. I took it 3 times to the dealer and they said it's a "normal" sound... It got to the point 1month ago where backing up out of a parking space and I turned the wheel it was a deafing display of creaks, groans and popping.

Well last weak I had to take it in cause the rear diff was leaking and mentioned "again" about the noise.
Well they finally got it to reproduce the sounds and it turns out the transmission was loose?
I betting that's what caused the leak. It's been 6 days and the truck hasn't made a sound.
I'm woundering if 10mo. on a loose transmission will screw anything up?
The dealer said NO, but I have till Nov. 2007 till my 7/70,000 is up.

It came with the 3yr/30,000 cause I took delievery in Nov. 2000 so I had to buy the extendad warrenty - then after 9/11/01 everything came with the 10/100,000[:@]

50 K miles and not an issue. Normal wear and tear. I just replaced the fron upper ball joints. OEM had no grease fittings and wore out. New ones have fittings.

I replaced my front brake pads and rotors due to warped rotors. The new Hark pads and powerslots make a huge difference in the stopping distance. I highly recomend this.

Otherwise nothing major. I run synthetic in it and change it every 7.5K miles. I am taking it in for a tranny change and rear diff. fluid real soon too.

I have toyed with buying an extended warranty on it just in case the tranny goes. I tow a car trailer a lot with it.

At 12000 miles the rear diff started whining, took it in and they said it was normal, which is BS. I will wait till a bit before the warranty runs out and demand a new one be put in. 17500 miles the transmission is leaking from the gasket between the two main pieces. CEL is on, haven't had time to take it in yet.
