Default vibration

I have a vibration in the seat of my pants and steering wheel starting around 80 mph. I have had the dealer look at it but they say it is normal. I think they are not telling the truth about that. They say they checked alignment and ballance and both are ok.

Any suggestions or simular problems?

Just took my SRT out of the shop for the same thing. I must have hit a pot hole. Forced balance and the problem is now gone.

Hea there, I have an '05 SRT-10 Quad cab in silver, that did the same thing since it was new 3 months ago. Vibration felt inside the cab at around 72 to 77 MPH.Went round and round with the dealership till they "Load Balenced" all the tires, this must be something new, at least up in this neck of the woods. While doing this they found two of the tires would not balence out. They ordered and installed two new tires under warenty, "Load Balenced" them and now the problem is gone. My dealership is Foster Motors in Middlebury VT 1-802-388-9961. It werked for me.

I have the same problem and the dealer thinks I'm nuts. I've had mine in 6 or 7 times for the same thing you describe. I meet with a so called Dodge expert next week. I want my money back. The vibration makes the whole driving experience miserable.

Default RE: vibration

Hi, we are new to the forum. We have a vibration in our SRT 10 also and a member on moparts gave me this site to check on. First they put a new drive shaft in since ours was way out of specs. Then load balanced the tires and three of them were bad. That helped the vibration in the cab, but we still have one in the shifter. It only does it between 1200-1600 rpm in 5th and 6th gear, at around 60-80 mph. Even if we are sitting still in neutral and bring it up to the right rpm it will do the same. The dealership and factory say it is a race truck you will have vibration, I don't think so. My husband thinks it may be the flywheel or the transmission out of balance. We did have a couple of srt owners at monster mopar say they had the harmonic balancer come loose on theirs. We go back to the dealer tomorrow to see what they will do next. If you guys have any idea what it may be we would appreciate any help. If we find any thing out will let you know. Thanks alot!

I was shocked to see your complaint about the vibration in your Viper Truck. I assumed I was alone in this complaint as mine is exactly as your complaint. I bought the 2005 SRT-10 Truck Commemorative Edition last month and since then, between 60-85 mph, nothing but vibration. I brought it back to the dealer twice. First time he said it was "probably" my nail in the tire.(?????) The last time the dealers "Viper Expert" drove with me, noticed it immediately, and said I needed to leave it for a few days. After 4 days with no free loaner car, the dealer informed me that they found the problem. They claimed it was the lack of high speed balancing which they did not have that type of machine at their facility. So they brought it over to discount tire who balanced it at high speed and the problem was corrected. I drove the truck out of their facility, onto the freeway, and between 60 & 80 mph, it did the exact same vibration. I called the service rep who had left for the weekend and contacted him on his return. When I explained the truck did the exact same thing he went into a speech about how this is a "race truck" and will "ride rough with some vibrations". I calmly disagreed with him and told him I drove another 2005 SRT-10 Viper Truck 6 speed as well as the 4 door version and both had NO VIBRATION. He went on to explain that the 4 door version is "detuned" and will act much calmer and was the 6 speed I drove a Commemorative Edition. When I replied no, he said "different model, different ride". Anyway, he told me his "Viper Expert" will look into the vibration problem but that "I was the first person" who complained about any vibrations. I will leave the vehicle this coming week with the dealer and I insisted on a free loaner car because that way they will "get to it much faster".
Other than that, I love this vehicle and think its great.

The vast majority of the SRTs don't have this vibration. Don't let your dealer's off the hook. The "race truck" excuse doesn't hold water. Mine is smooth at all speeds and rpms. Got to srt10forum.com and do a search on vibrations for more answers.
