Default Lightning vs SRT-10

i hate when all the lightning owners say how they have the fastest truck ever. What would be faster the 8.3l in a ram or a supercharged 5.7 hemi?

Lol I will again try to defend the lihtning but I prefer the srt-10 ...

the SVT is not a bad truck guys, you just dont love the 'supercharged' that they put in it ... but anyway a Viper engine vs A V8 Supercharge ...

It's all jealousy. They know that without that SC, they don't have crap. OH wait, they do have crap.

i saw a supercharged hemi and it had 517 hp. Now if ford's 5.4 v8 supercharged can be pretty quick with just 300 without the blower, dodges hemi should be able to run circles around it supercharged. It's simple. Dodge has the better engine

Supercharged 5.7 might be better, and that's what they probably should have done. Either way I like seeing the Vip engine in the Ram.

Hey, I'm the first to tease my Ford friends but the reality is that Lightnings are very worthy and very fast. They have great support in the aftermarket arena and are easily and inexpensively modified. Trust me, you don't want to discount the competition and take them for granted.

As far as the s/c hemi vs the Viper engine, you don't just throw a s/c on any engine and go. The compression on the hemi will have to be lowered or the boost restricted and the fuel mixtures will have to be remapped to mention a just few of the obstacles. That said, STS down the street from me is getting some impressive results with turbos on Hemi Rams and Durangos. But, you're going through all of that to almost get the same results as a stock V-10. Just ask Quicksilver what happens when you add the s/c to the V-10. [sm=gears.gif]
When they asked Dodge why they put a Viper engine in a Ram they said, "Because we can!" That works for me.

Default RE: Lightning vs SRT-10

I really like the SRT-10, I think it's awsome, aong with the ram SS/T, but I think the lightning is a much better truck than the SRT-10. I say this because the SRT-10 has 120 horsepower more than the lightning, but yet it's only 3 tenths of a second faster in 0-60 and only half a second faster in the quarter mile. For 120 more horsepower and 50 more lb. ft. of torque, I was expecting a lot more. I know a lot of guys say Ford is cheating with the supercharger, but Dodge isn't much more innocent, adding two more pistons to a massive long block 505. If you ask me the SRT-10 is one bad a** truck and takes the lightning in looks, but in efficiency, the lightning is much better. Another thing though, I don't like it when die hard lightning fans act so stubborn and hardheaded and say the lightning is faster than the SRT-10 because it's not, although you could probably make it faster for less than 3,000 more than what the truck cost. Just get a full, true dual exhaust, an intake system, pulleys and a chip.
