What fuel do you need to use in the 5.7L V8?

i dont know, but usually the owners manual will tell you what the minumum requirement is, i think in the "capacities" section.

If I remember correctly the manual states to use 89 octane or better.

actually i think allpar mentioned 89 octane unleaded, so go with that

I have a Magnum with the 5.7 and I have been using 87 octane with no problems. If you beat on it alot, you may want to use the 89 though.

opps mibad wrong engine 89 or mid grade not!! premium but i just had a 600 + mile trip used 87 car ran great. first trip 22.4 average mpg not to bad.

Actually it is listed in the 'Fuel Requirements' section. The 2.7L requires 87 octane and the 3.5L and 5.7L rtequire 89 octane and the manual states that premium is NOT recommended.

Here in Colorado we have 85,87,91. Which would you use?

From the looks of it 87 octane would replace 89 octane where you are at.

I also have the 87,89 and 91. All the "midgrade" in Nebraska is a blend of ethanol and gas...but I have been using the 89 and have been running great

Manual on charger recommends 89 oct. for 5.7 MDS. Dealer told me that if you run 87 to much it may burn out 02 sensors.
