Default Hemi Dakota.......

I have a 2001 Quad cab 4X4 and I've been told that the Hemi won't fit in it.
Does anyone know different? My 4.7 could use an upgrade......

It won't fit between the frame rails as-is, the HEMI motor is significantly wider than the 4.7L/5.9L V8's. I have heard of a couple of converted trucks but they would have required custom engine mounts, fender modifications, different transmission/computer/wiring/etc.

Much appreciated input from all......
Sounds like the HEMI is a no go for me but maybe there's some engine mods I could do to squeeze more out of the 4.7.
I have K&N filter and dual exhaust but there's just no bottom end. She doesn't start pulling till 2000 rpm, I also have the 5 speed manual, where 1st is too low and 2nd is working the clutch, I hope there's other people out there feeling the same way.

For a doable engine swap... consider a 5.9. Put's out way more HP than the Hemi when done right. Still would take a lot of work... and money. It'd prob'ly be cheaper to find a hot rodded R/T on e-Bay.

I also suggest the 5.9 swap instead. Way easier as it's a factory option engine. The 360 crate motor puts out more power (in several trims) than the hemi crate and it's cheaper too, too bad Mopar noticed this and jacked the price of the 360 up a grand to make it a little closer in price.
