Cummins no doubt is the king of diesels. There's no way that Ford will ever last as long either. -Matt-

If Ford does go 450 horsepower the Cummins can easily match it and then some my uncles cummins is putting out somewhere in that area all I know is it'll beat his bosses new stuperduty not bad for a second gen 12 valve...

Oh, hell yeah Cummins can match it. All cummins needs to do is put the "B" engine in the Ram and watch it kick butt.

If its like the last new one they will be breaking down all over. My friend bought one and it didn't last 6 weeks before blowing up.

The Cummins has only been around since 1989 so that's only 16 years, Dodge was 7 years behind in the Diesel market when the Cummins was introduced. GM has only used 3 diesels since they started putting diesels in their trucks, the 6.2L, 6.5L and the Duramax, and the 6.5L is just a stroked 6.2L. GM added a turbo in the late 80s-early 90s, but other then that the engine remained unchanged for about 19 years. And that engine is still in production today in the military HMMWV, so if you're really talking about longevity AM General has everyone beat using the same basic engine since 1983, which is 22 years. It doesn't really matter if Ford is putting a new Diesel into the Super Duty, it's still a V-block, which is probably the worst design for a diesel. Most people don't know that the ideal Diesel is a Straight-6, and think that just like a gas engine that a V-8 is an awesome setup for diesels, when really it's horrible.

ORIGINAL: Challenger Lover Here what I find of fordtruckworld site, a 6.4 l with a TwinTurbo 30 Psi+ that can developped up to 400 to 500 hp ... if its true htas gonna be a nice diesel but the 610 torque of the cummins will be hard to get ! quote:
From what i have heard from my friends over at the ford dealership there is a new powerstroke coming out next year well in 2007, suppose to be a twin turbo pushing 30+ psi in each turbo stock. -also out of the new Diesel Power magazine ATS Performance is suppose to be coming out with an aftermarked turbos for the 6.0L PSD's soon. Later yall, Knight quote:
Yeah, there has been talk about this for a while now. It's coming out for the '07 model year bored out to a 6.4 with twin turbos and estimated 450-500 hp. The ones released to the public are supposed to be "de-tuned" to an estimated 400-450 hp Yeah, and this is coming from the manufacture that is already having enough trouble with a single turbo in their diesel. If Ford wants to make things worse for themselves by doing something silly like this for more bragging rights, then I say bring it on. As Drew has mentioned in other posts. The Cummins has been used in boats, where it produced 425 hp and 910 ft-lbs of torque and the only difference is the injectors, turbo, and fuel pump were changed, so I believe the Cummins just might be okay against this. The Cummins would not loose its reliability. BTW, wasn't the 6.5 and 6.2 made by Detroit Diesel? I have heard the new H1s will have the "Duramax."

nope, the 6.2 and 6.5L Chevy diesels were made by GM. the early 6.2's were only 350's with diesel heads. BIG mistake. the 6.5 is only a bored out 6.2.
