2003 Dakota Stampede

I have been looking around to get into the Dakota family for a while now, Friday I found a 2003 Dakota Stampede and love the looks of the body kit it has on it. The dealership is asking for $20,000 and it has 96,000 KM on it (I'm in Canada so it's Canadian Funds and Kilometers, not Miles.)

They just got it in and I was talking to one of the younger salesman, he was very truthful with me and told me he didn't know alot about the Stampede edition and he could have more info for me on Monday.

I have tried to research it on the internet and have found absolutly NOTHING, I dont even see this edition on Autotrader. Were there only a few of these models made? And if so, what sets them apart from the Sport and R/T besides the bodykit?

Anyone own one and have any troubles with it?

I originally went to the lot cause they had an '00 Dakota Sport for $15,000 that I liked, but it was sold and then fell in love with the way the Stampede looks.

If anyone has any info on it could you please post some, I have looked on the net but all I could find was that Dodge was expected to replace the R/T with the Stampede, but it looks like the Stampede was a very, very limited thing...

The Stampede only refers to the Ground effects Kit. It came out in 2003. The R/T's last year of production was also in 2003. I agree the Stampede is a very nice edition. Some 03 R/T's also had the Stampede kit on them. I own a 2000 R/T, and I liked the Stampede kit so much, I found a used one being sold, and bought it to put on my truck.

As far as being special or setting it apart, obviously you have the body kit, but i think it also has chrome wheels ? If you were to order the Stampede kit from Mopar... it will cost you between $2000 - $4000 American dollars. Thats why I bought one used. Its a shame when $500 is a steal for a body kit.

$16k US sounds a bit high, since the basic Stampede package only came with the 3.9L V6 or 4.7L V8.

I bought my '03 CC R/T with the Stampede body panels, chrome 17" R/T rims, 4-wheel disc brakes, 5.9L V8, etc. with only 6k miles on it for $16900 US over a year ago.
