We've got the 3.5 V6. We are traveling 74 miles a day round trip to work, about 55 highway miles at around 70mph, the rest is back roads that wind and have slight hills. We average between 20 and 23 mpg ( I think we did get 25 on one tank of gas...), depending on how many times I take short trips over to Wally World. No where near the 27 highway mpg on the sticker, but reasonable enough. Still improved over the Durango we traded, which was the point of getting a new vehicle. Of course my increased car payment seems to make the MPG a wash. Oh well, if I was really looking to save money I would have bought one of those little foreign jobs. If you are real bent on saving fuel money, slow down and let them stare at that sweet looking car! Natalie

Well I finally did it. I picked up my Charger R/T yesterday. I was looking at getting the V6 High Output, but after test driving the two, the V6 was pretty quick, but the Hemi just threw you in the seat and kept you there!! There was no getting out of it. The V6 was pretty quick though and good HP for a V6, but around 3500-4000 +, it started leveling off and winding out for the next gear where the Hemi just threw you back and screamed for more. The fuel mileage is only like 1-2 mpg difference. I went with the Hemi cause it was only $24 a month more for it compared to the V6 and I think I'll get more out of it when I sell it in 5 years. Plus, I'll throw in a KN filter or whatever to give me the extra 1-2 mpg. LOVE THE CAR!!!!!!! It handles great, rides nice, GREAT LOOK, and control. The damn thing is a rocket if I want it to be. Thanks everyone!! Oh BTW, mine is steel metallic. I love the rims, trunk space, leather seats, muscle car look, with room for the kids. The telescoping as well as tilting wheel is nice.

I seem to get a little better gas mileage when using the Auto Stick other than automatic. Anybody else have this?

Mine is steel metalic also. Yesterday, I had a big window replaced in the front of my house. The guys doing it were all over my R/T asking questions, saying how much the liked the new Charger. Today, I took it to the car wash and one of the employees was asking me all kinds of questions, again telling me how much he liked Dodges. Later getting my hair cut, I saw another guy walk up and check it out. THIS IS GREAT! I'm almost 60, and finally have a car that gets noticed, not to mention one that now (almost 4,000 miles) will break the rear tires loose at anything below 10 mph and start walking sideways. Mine actuall saw 30+ mpg this morning. Of course, I was only going 50, but still.......... dave

In most all cars, the manual transmission get a little better gas mileage than the automatic transmission and I thought this might also be true.

i would think that using the auto stick might get you better mileage if you shift early and stay out of high rpm's. then again, im an idiot

Just an update prior to the installation of the flashpak.. Best milage came with the K&N 63-1114 and throttle body spacer. My next install was the exchange of the Borla Performance Cat-Back system. Now though I love the sound and actually feel an extra spring in the throttle performance.. milage dropped a full 2 mpg. I would have to say.. that the best I've got to date in commuter traffic and midrange power use.. averaged 18.3. This was with the resonator cut out of the stock system & with the K&N cold air.. and throttle spacer. Anyone else have observations after replacing the catback system??

read in the manual if the battery is ever disconnected the dealer needs to reset it for the MDS to work. I'm thinking this function is not enabled. So far I have about 500 miles on it. I've disconnected my battery a few times while upgrading the sound system and installing the stage chip but the post above reminded me about something I read in the manual. can some one please explain to me what is the MDS and what is it for? Since I haven't gone to the dealer to reset it, should I be worried? thanks

Qbinican - The MDS is the system that, when cruising and the engine doesn't need all 8 cylinders to maintain speed, it shuts down 4 of the cylinders so you are cruising on only 4 cylinders and, thus, getting better mpg. As far as the battery is concerned - I've disconnected mine several times to install the CAI (Cold Air Intake), Jet chip Stage 2, and Magnaflow exhaust. My MDS is working fine, in fact, with the new exhaust system, I can feel/hear when its only running on 4 cylinders. So, I wouldn't worry about it. At least I'm not. Hope this helps. dave

ORIGINAL: BadStratRT do you live an in abnormally hilly area? me? i live in Michigan, the only thing remotely close to a hill is the garbage mountain in Salem This past weekend (Father's Day) I took the Daytona for a trip up in the mountains of NC to test out the handling through the winding mountain roads. The car handled beautifully! Hugged the road much better then I had expected for a car of this size. After about 200 miles of THUNDER ROAD FUN I checked my mileage and found that I got about 18.3 mpg for the day. NOT BAD. I have been averaging about 21 with about 25 for Highway trips. (EVERYDAY I LOVE MY HEMI MORE THEN THE DAY BEFORE) nickoman01 I grew up in Northville, MI not too far from Salem! I checked out the pictures in you gallery and it all looks very familiar kOnO
