Default slipin tranny

I gotta 95 dakota automatic transmission and when i leave my school campus we have to sit in a line, well whenever i am just sitting there about to go i remove my foot from the brake and the engine reves up like it is moving but i do not move and about a second later the transmission kicks in and i jerk forward i was wondering if anyone knew what this was and if they do how can i fix it...id rather not have to send it in to the shop 2 get it fixed. thanx
