Alright, I fiqured I would be going through gas alot but this is ridiculous. ~8.8 mpg. I just filled up 22.5 gallons and only 202 miles. Geez... Is there something wrong?!?! I am driving normally, not stomping it @ everylight. 60% highway 40% street. Shouldnt I be averaging ~12mpg. What can I do to improve my mpg's? I understand it my 5.9 wont get good mpg's but this is nuts My truck is stock btw.

Don't feel too bad, some students at the university I work at recently tested all the full size trucks and SUV's for gas mileage and the Ford Excursion came up the loser...3.8 MPG!!! They are starting a movement to get the things banned from the road....

That is bad... my 5.9 gets about 12 in the winter with all my mods...

Is it new? If not, have you done regular maintenance on it?

Sheesh! I have the 8.0 and 4WD and I get better than that! About 3/4 of my daily drive is city driving, so maybe you have a few issues going on.

I don't have too many miles yet, but I'm getting close to 15mpg with my Hemi. I'm only flooring it once or twice per tank.

I do have a lid, & a K&N Filter which may help.

What year, gear ratio and tire size. There is a tranny reprogram to keep from shgifting into o.d. too soon around town - that helped me some.

Intake, Exhaust and SuperChip have given me an additional 2 MPG.

My truck is a 2002, I have 25k miles. The dealer recommended injector cleaning and cleaning the throttle body. Cost ~$180, which to me dosent seem practical. Then again I could be wrong. I do have the 20" wheels, but that shouldn't affect mpg that much.

Vader's right. That's all they'll do. If ya really need an injector cleaning, see if there's a reputable shop, they may be able to do it for much less $. Maybe you should keep your foot out of it! LOL, just kidding... I know only one speed, and that's wide open!

What exactly is the BG44K? Can anyone buy it?

I'm also thinking is my ecu possibly dumping too much fuel, causing me to run rich. I'm just trying to fiqure what is going on. It dosent help the gas prices are going up

BG44k is a fuel additive that is a powerful cleaner. It does actually work. Our County motor pool uses it and the Mechanics have shown me before and after injectors. You can buy it at most dealers for 17.00 a can. Or try BGfindashop.com.

It works and is worth it.

I have seem some post where milage is as high as 17 or so on the new hemi. Makes me think they are looking at the KMG not the MPG on the auto readout. All I can get is 12.4 if I keep my foot out of it, which is almost impossible when you drive a HEMI.

I am with you man.
I installed the AIRMAX Intake kit and the Helix Power Tower Plus on my 4.7 with 1800 miles on it. It did help some. I get on average 15 city and 17-18 hwy. which gave me an increase of 5 mpg city and 3 hwy. Keep in mind that I do live on the alaska coast and all my hwy driving is up and down large mountains.
