Rad Rides by Troy has shovwed a viper engine into a dakota crazy Nah, keep it to the Ram. There's no point for a Dak with that much power IMO. -Matt- i didnt suggest anything, juss says what they did... Yeah, but I didn't like the idea of it.... -Matt-

ptschett, i dont think that the SRT10 Ram was developed for towing or hauling... hopefully it is another overpriced 4 door....one more in the line of SRT --- Sedan Racing Technology.

The 6.1 in a dakota would be sick i wonder how it would stack up to the SRT-10.

If Banks turbo can put in a modified Cummins in a Dakota, a V-10 shouldn't be a problem.

personaly i'm glad they are putting auto's in most SRT's, i'd wouldn't buy any of them if they were manuals, I want to enjoy driving the car, not have to deal with the hastle of shifting all the time.

ORIGINAL: shiltz personaly i'm glad they are putting auto's in most SRT's, i'd wouldn't buy any of them if they were manuals, I want to enjoy driving the car, not have to deal with the hastle of shifting all the time. I've participated in debates on this topic on other Dodge forums, and I can't help but throw my $0.02 into the fire here. To each their own, but to me, having an automatic transmission is more like just being along for the ride. With an automatic, the car is driving me. But with a manual, I'm driving the car. I just do not understand how someone can really connect with, and feel passionate about driving, a car that has an automatic transmission. Big deal. Push the right-most pedal, go forward. Yippee. Loads of fun there. Yes, manuals can be a pain in traffic... but all in all, I'd take a manual over an automatic any day. Manuals are more fun to drive. You have more control. You don't have to deal with a shift-happy slushbox. You can anticipate what's up ahead and select the proper gear in advance. And manual transmissions offer mechanical simplicity whereas an automatic is a complex unit with a lot more stuff to go wrong inside. One of the most common complaints I've heard about the Dodge vehicle lineup is problematic auto transmissions. I wish they offered manuals in all of the SRT vehicles. What's the point of having a performance vehicle if it's going to be limited by a power-sapping slushbox? They should at least offer the option, that way everyone can be happy.
