Default 92 IROC R/T engines & VIN

I'm a bit confused as to what engines were available in the 1992 Daytona IROC R/T. I was under the impression that they had intercooled turbo engines, but the one I looked at today had no intercooler. Here's the VIN: 1B3XW74J4NN16****. Can anyone enlighten me? It appears that this is a T1 engine; it's not a DOHC.

Thanks!

PS: This car is a Red automatic, has Shelby decals, IROC R/T 16 valve badges on the fenders, the title states the car is an IROC with no mention of R/T. I'm thinking it's an IROC that someone added R/T badges to...

Not an expert here, but I think that in 92 they where available with either TIII 2.2 16v intercooled, or 3.0 V6. Are you sure that the car you where looking at wasn't a 90, or 91 Daytona IROC and not the IROC R/T. The Daytona IROC cars where available with a non-intercooled 2.5 turbo "high-torque" drive train....

I'm sure it's a '92. As stated in my first post, I really believe that someone just stuck R/T badges on the fenders (it has a TI/auto). Everything I've read indicates the IROC R/T's are TIII/5spd cars. I stuck the VIN up with the hope someone could translate it. Anyone??

Default RE: 92 IROC R/T engines & VIN

1992 Daytonas had 4 engine options. The base model had a 2.5, the IROC series had a 3.0 or a 2.5 Turbo 1 "Rare", and the R/T came with 224 HP intercooled twin cam 2.2 Turbo III engine only. There has been a few reports of shelby badges on some of the cars from the factory but are all believed to be a marketing trick by Chrysler. As for the Vin The eigth character is the engine type which is "J" for the 2.5L turbo 1. Vin "A" is for the 2.2 Turbo III motor. Also the IROC R/T never came in an automatic. So you are right its a 1992 IROC Daytona that came from the factory with a 2.5L Turbo with shelby decals on it but someone had to put IROC R/T badges on.
