Nothing noticeable I don't think. I can write him and ask him for his opinion... but those I know with his TB installed never mentioned any differance or much at all in mileage. Let me know if you want me to write and ask him. :)

Hi Amanda, this deal does sound great. As you know, I am a hard sell without the facts. Does your contact have dyno proven gains. I checked the site, but I am poor at searching. Please let me know as I may be interested in the TB for the 5.9.

Thanks for lookin out for us:D

There is no dyno tests on his site... I'll ask him and get back to you. ;)

Okay... got the answers...

Vader > > >
"I had them on my old website. My webmaster lost them. The actual gains are 13-15HP and 15-17 TQ when tested on a 5.9 Ram with a Muffler and Cold Air Intake already added before testing." Quoted right from The Fastman.

blknredram > > >
"Mileage remains the same and most report a slight gain with normal driving." Quoted right from The Fastman. See? It helps gas mileage with normal driving... but I don't drive normal myself. LOL!

What so you guys think?! C'mon!! This is a GREAT GREAT GREAT offer... Anything else I can do to help convince y'all?

C'mon everyone!! This is a fabulous deal!! Two orders placed so far... excluding mine... spring is coming... this is an outstanding mod for making any engine breathe better... when they breathe better, they run better.

So PLEASE, check it out and consider one for you... make it a present to the Dodge... whatever. They are easy enough to install, and the gains are unmistakable. Everyone wants the best on their engine... The Fastman is the BEST!! Just buy one!! LOL!

Just a side note - everyony at the Durango Owners Forum (www.durangoclub.com) swears by The Fastman and his products.

Also - I checked Fastman's website but didn't see anything on how to install - if I order one how much work am I getting myself into?

Dodgegirl19
02-27-2004, 04:16 PM
Thanks for the booster!! I'll have to go check out Durango Club!

Not hard at all... 4 bolts, three wire connectors and the linkages. I would think The Fastman would supply directions, but if not... it's all there. You'll see where everything goes when removing the stock TB. If he doesn't supply directions, I'll write up a step by step page... we'll have to get it into the Tech Help section... Hehehe!

Anyway... it's not hard... 30 mins I'd say. :)

The Fastmans TB's are great, just installed one on my friends 03 Dakota and that thing scoots. You could really tell the difference all the way through the powerband. Great buy. Took ten minutes to install and we were back on the road. Will get one for my ram next week.

There is another site on the web that did a TB Shoot out a while back. They took a 5.9L with mild mods and installed a Fastman, Hueghs, and a bunch of other TBs of verious stages and costs. The fastman was the cheapest and was outperformed by one TB if I remember right...and that was a 1200.00 TB!!!

I have had my TB for a while now...nothing noticable on gas...but damn!! Throtle response and power were both increased!!

He sends instructions, the TB, a new gasket, new bolts, and an "s" bolt in the "kit". It is a verry easy ans streght forward install. He is a great guy to work with ans if you have any problems with the install he is willing to help out!!

I lost my overdrive, and cruse control after swaping TBs and gave him a call thinking I did something wrong. He was verry patient and walked me through a few possibilities.

As it turned out my TPS sensor fried due to some tinkering I did a few weeks before and just by chance thats when it failed. Has nothing to do with the TB, but Dan still took the time to try and help me!!

Due to his customer service, I will be getting an O2 sim or 2 from him shortly, even though you can get the same thing else where too!!

If you are thinking about some mods for your Ram, these TB's are the way to go!!

before I make an order, does anybody know if these things really work ? I have a 98 SS/T ram with a 5.9. If it works, as in a power increase, I'm in. Are there any actual dyno tests that a person could look at ?

Dodgegirl19
04-05-2004, 02:35 AM
Please read back into this post for your answer on dyno... ;)

I was just coming to post to say that we installed on eon the 5.2l 318 (the blue ram on my site) and it did wonders!! Touchier gas, more power, totally feel-able on a stock truck 4x4 except for a CAI... NICE!! I was VERY VERY VERY impressed... I squeeled tires all over the place. LOL!! Can't wait to get it on my 5.9L!!

Yes, they REALLY work Molson_Muscle... as you get to know me, you'll know that I don't bring anything that's not totally awesome to our site. ;) Hehehe!!

The deal will be up for awhile I'm sure... The Fastman and I have a solid friendship... so, I think it'll be offered for awhile.

Once he recieves the payment, it's usually within that week (usually a few days, but I don't want to assume) the TB goes out, but he can give you a better time frame when he contacts you... I hope you do pick up this deal... it's AWESOME for our Magnum engines... ;)

04-17-2004, 01:33 PM
vader and I placed our orders at the same time and he already has his installed, im not expecting to have mine until next week which is still great time/service. just leads me to think his higher rankings here had something to do with it ;)

Im not complaining, fastman called me and was very fast and professional, cant wait to get it on my truck. he even helped me with ideas of gaining low end power over high end. thanks for getting us in touch with him!

Dodgegirl19
04-17-2004, 01:58 PM
Actually, I can tell you for a fact that rank doesn't matter... Why? The Fastman doesn't even visit the forums, not this one or any of them... that's why I'm his sales person here. He's too busy machining things to do check out things online... again, that's why he has me. :)

Do you have a 5.9L or no...? Perhaps he had to make yours and not Vaders? Maybe Vaders order came in first, I know Vader and The Fastman talked late late one night and his TB went out that next day, and arrived... two days later... so, yours isn't far behind and rank has nothing to do with it because he doesn't even check, doesn't even visit the site, he just makes excellent parts for our Dodges. ;)

~Amanda

ovek
04-18-2004, 12:58 AM
Yes I have the 5.2, he said it has to be machined. He must have already had one in stock for vader's then.

Fastman also recommended the k&n filter. Do you know if there is a complete replacement for the tube and everything? Maybe a heatshielded aluminum one? Or would I be wasting my time replacing the tube etc. instead of just the filter?

but what about an intake manifold? anywho.. off of the perfomance subject.. does anyone know if you have a Reese Hitch Installed already w/ a stock rear bumper ... is it possible to replace the stock bumper w/ a 8 or 10 inch drop bumper.... is that going to not let me use the reciever on the Reese Hitch???? that would SUCK.

ovek
05-05-2004, 11:39 PM
got the TB on before the trip to orlando, throttle responds quicker, i can feel alot more mid and top range power but think it may have lost some low range power.. acts like my computer is not learning the new TB yet and setting it too lean.. also seems like gas mileage is slightly lower, probably due to lean and i need to get it reset.. does anyone know how?

all and all i love the new TB and fastman gave perfect instructions and even included new stainless allen bolts for mounting it and a new gasket as well as a new s bolt which i didnt need for my specific model and sent back to him with the core.. took about a half hour to change with basic tools. id recommend it to anyone that doesnt have it :)

Dodgegirl19
05-05-2004, 11:42 PM
The computer will learn the new TB, that's why it's running lean, the same thing happened with the one I put on the blue 4x4. I believe it said in his instructions that it's 400 miles or so.

I find it odd you think you lost low end, it improved the 4x4 ten fold on low end power... I hope you change your mind. :):)

I'm SO SO SO SO SO glad you like it and recommend it... it's a FABULOUS product. :):)

~Amanda

ovek
05-05-2004, 11:53 PM
he actually says 40 miles in his instrictions. my idle is also a little higher and goes up and down a little.. i would think that is the learning thing.. ive put over 500 miles on it.. i think the computer in my truck must be stupid or just a little slow lol. im not gonna worry about it until i get new headers and CAI

hmm just remembered about the EGR.. wonder if the gasket is blocking it, i didnt pay attention to that during install. oops

the TB that was on the truck already said on it HOLLEY. do they come stock with holley TB? the one i got from fastman did not say holley but looked identical ecept for his machining and new gates etc.

Dodgegirl19
05-05-2004, 11:59 PM
Hahaha! I must be blind and adding zeros... LOL! The EGR gasket shouldn't bother it since that goes to the intake manifold.

Yep, the stock TB's are made by Holley. ;)

Ok, this deal sounds good, I have a 98' Ram 1500 5.9L, but let me get a few things straight. I pay whatever it is 220 dollars + S/H, then if I send him back my old throttle body I get my 100 dollar deposite back, so total is 320 + S/H, and I get 100 back, that sounds pretty good. Now say I get/have an after market intake. Would this still fit on it or would I have to get a new one? In addition what about throttle body spacers, 1" would I be able to put it on or would I have to get a hood modification? Installation you say is simple. I guessing you remove the stock air box, unscrew the 4 TB bolts, and unhook the wires and the latches. Pull that off, pop the new one on and reconnect everything? Sounds good, will he still have this deal over the summer? or is it going to end soon, does he have a limited ammount or something. And in terms of power increase I would get somewhere around 17 hp with an after market intake. Plus say an exhaust.

I may be a potential buyer but first I'm gonna have to do a little extra research in general about TB's and so on.

Thanks,
Mike.

Dodgegirl19
05-06-2004, 02:24 PM
Exactly right... it would be about $320 with shipping until you send him your old TB back then the $100 is refunded back to you.

Wow, haven't checked this post in a while.

My order had absolutely nothing to do with Rank. There happened to be one TB available for my 360 when I ordered. Dan explained that he sometimes gets way ahead but then falls behind. Thats why it is important to send them back as quick as possible.

i'm curious as to what he had to say about increasing low end torque if you would like to share? if privacy is a concern would you mind sending me an email?

what i have in mind is k&n cai, jba exhaust and headers and possibly this throttle body. wow that's a lot of extra money to spend, but if i get that grunt out of such a heavy truck, it'll be so worth it.

I took a quick look at the Fastman's web site. I didn't see anything about the new 3.7L V6. Does it use the same TB as the 3.9, or does he not offer that one yet? If he needs a "guinea pig" 3.7L TB to work on, maybe I can help him out. I mostly ride my motorcycle in the summer, and might be able to send him my TB to work on.

OK. Now I'm trying to understand. I have a 98 Ram 5.2, 2 wheel drive, that has all the power of an old Rambler American 6 cyl that I had years ago, and gets the gas mileage of a grain truck (15 tops). I've got a K&N, a Helix Power Tower, and stock exhaust. Now from what I read there is no increase in MPG, and some increase in performance? What is the point? This truck needs help for sure but I want something that will at least let it keep up with a GM 4.3! I've never been so disappointed in a truck in my life. Looks good, and it's easy to get a look at it 'cause it won't go fast enough for anyone to miss, especially if there is a hill!:(

Well, I have a 1999 5.2L 4x4 in the family, I just drove it over 1,000 miles in two days and it's got loads of power, gets about 12 miles to the gallon in regular city driving. It's got a Mopar Performance Cold Air Intake and Flowmaster Exhaust for mods, along with the TB. We noticed a ton of gain in performance and no loss in gas mileage when we installed the Fastman Throttle Body... THAT'S the point.

Sounds to me there's a deeper underlying problem with your truck's engine if you aren't getting anywhere fast.... cause the 4x4 can haul some ass.

Read through this post, not one disappointed purchase... obviously it's a great addition to any modified engine.

i know this is a little off topic but

my truck had the same problem and it was the stock catilitic converter
it broke free from the mount inside and was plugging the exhaust
talk about a performance gain when i changed it lol

A Fastman testimonial I got through email:
"I have been running a Fastman 52 mm on a '99 Dakota R/T. :-)) Milage if anyhting was helped. It seems quicker and after the Super Chip tuner. Oh boy!!! Headers and K&N Gen II were already there. Fastman for the price turn time and responce to questions seems to be a true craftsman and business man. Willing to take the extra time to answer questions."

golfking - This was his response about the SRT-10:
"I make them for the SRT10 and yes there is a definite improvement. The SRT-10 TB has the same restriction in it as the V8’s. I do not have cores. He will have to send me there original for modification. Have him email or call me and prearrange when it will be coming and I can turn it around within 1-2 days. Pricing is $250 plus shipping."

I was just turned on to this special offer. I have been watching the Fastman's website for a long time now making sure he's still making those bada$$ TBs and not racing all the time. If the offer is still good let me know and I'll sign up and maybe get some others.

Testimony...

Friend with a 1999 4x4 318 added a 50mm Fastman TB (which he already had an exhaust upgrade) and had this to say, "In everyday normal driving I was getting 12.7 (with larger tires, 33" I think). Install the TB, loaded down the truck for a cross country move and averaged 13.7 MPG on an 1100 mile trip through the resent hurricane in Florida, so high winds and lots of rain (he built a custom rack to fit into his receiver hitch to hold his 36" superswamper, 600lbs tire and rack)." I talked to him last night and he said so far (after driving with the truck empty) he is getting 14.3 to 14.5 MGP. Of course he's gained lots of power all across the rpm range.

One thing to keep in mind with add/upgrading the TB. If you increase the amount of air that can go into an engine (like going to a bigger TB) you will also have to upgrade/increase the amount of air the engine can get (as in installing a less restrictive air intake) and removing the used air out of the engine faster (as in high flow cat, less restrictive muffler).
If you just added the TB you'll see a difference, but not the full potential!!!

hey amanda i have a list of mods i want to get done to upgrade the performance on my 5.9 and am in the process of scraping together money to start getting it all done, would this be a good first mod for my truck? i want to get a CAI next but as of now i pretty much have a stock 5.9 and was wondering if i would notice gains on the stock or if i should go and upgrade other stuff before coming back and replacing the throttle body..

also ive never really done anything on the inside on my truck and was wondering if this would be posible for someone who oesn't know much about trucks to install by himself, i have a mechanic for a neighbor but if posible id like to do this by myself for the sense of accomplishment and stuff.

thanks for the reply :-)

Yes, it is very easy to install and comes with instructions. :):) It's an AWESOME upgrade.

Jon, here is his response:

To sum it up I can modify about any TB. I do not know all the different makes out there so until I see it I do not always know what I can do. With TB’s I am not familiar with I need to see it or have it sent to me. Cores are readily available for most of the older stuff and I can normally get them very reasonably priced. The special TB’s take a backseat to my normal workload. It takes a bit to jig and fixture for some of this stuff. Most engines respond to a bigger TB. Gains I do not always know. How much bigger is common sense and experience. If customer is willing to work with me I will work with them.

So... LMK! :)

I noticed in a earlier post that there is a throttle body for the new 3. V6 Magnum engines. I was wondering if you could let me know about how much it is and the Avg HP gains after installation. fl dak - The core is $80, it's updated.

Doughrat19 - "I do not have cores for the 3.7 04. If they send me theirs I can rework it. It is tough to keep up with Dodge’s continuing year changes." That was his answer. He doesn't have any cores yet so if you wanted one... we'd have to plan it well. :)

Wow, this has been going on for quite some time. On the subject of cores - I have a 92 TB core, sensors removed and shaft removed. How much would he charge to make this a 52mm TB, since he puts new blades and shaft in anyway? This is going back on a 92 truck with the 92 throttle linkage setup, which changed in 94 I think. I still have the original blades and shaft, but one of the shaft screwholes needs to be retapped.

I shall ask him. :)

~Amanda

$219.95, $5 shipping. He just does not need the core deposit if he sends his original. The 92-94 linkage is a small all steel linkage which changed in 95.

THANKS!

Just wanted to drop a line about the Fastman, and his outstanding product. I recently traded out the BBK unit for the Fastman 69.5mm unit. I will probably add a mag-hytec rear diff cover as well. I was going to buy a new Ram and pay cash, but since I found my 00' w/only 11K miles and mint condition, I paid cash and can now pay cash for LOTS of mods.....watch out America!!!!!:D

I looked at one a while back and the jury is still out. I run a Powerdyne supercharger on a 5.9 Magnum and wonder if the modified TB is worth the bucks. I send a little nitrous down the hole once and awhile too. Where I would like to see the gains is cruzing 55 mph, straight and level. Acceleration has not been a problem so far...............ask any 5.0 Mustang. The idea of swerling & twerling the air makes no differance because of the plenume size of the stock intake manifold. What I need is mass or volume and hard data from controled or semi-controled test. I like the product. Brad-Aircraft Engineer

I know this thread is very old an theres some mention these aren't being made much these days--any chance he still takes new orders? Also, I've read throught about 6 pages of post and didn't see a single charger--granted i didn't read them all does anyone have them on their 5.7 Hemi Dodge Charger? Hows the preformance and any dyno result would be nice to know. I would hate spending big bucks for just the sake of moding a part with little gains.

Thanks in advance...

The bores are taken out alittle and thinner throttle blades inserted. Not much overall size to be expanded to due to the bearings riding the outside of the throttle shaft. You can only go so far. Maybe 10 hp gain on good day.
Look into the Holley Custom Billet 52mm tb. It's a better knock off of the F&B and makes betterpowerwith lesscosts. I got mine pretty reasonable from www.southeastperformance.com (http://www.southeastperformance.com) and great service.
