I have owned every example of Chrysler hemi's ever made from the fifties fireflights to the 426's to the new 5.7 magnum. My guestion to anyone that can answer it is, were is the aftermarket for the 5.7 magnum? I have searched the internet out and have only turned up cat back exhaust. Not even true Duals. To a cold air intake that claims to make 45 hp. If there is anyone reading this that belives changing an air filter will get you 45hp then i have a bridge in brooklyn that i need to get off my hands...Back to the point this is by far the best hemi engine to date, an there is no aftermarket upgrades. The factory speed cut off is way to low as is the rpm limiter. It begs for more rpm's. With this engine being in production for over a year, 02's in the 1/2 an 1 ton models. And  a good friend of mine who works in engineering at diamlerchrysler said they played with it since 99! There is no real hot hop ups for it.....has anybody found anything that i missed? The ford harley davidson makes 340 hp but with a supercharger as does the chevy/gmc model comeing out this year but the 5.7 magnum 345hp all natural.....supercharger...if i only knew were to buy one for it......

Patience young grass hopper...;)

Ok, I would like to know where you found a CAI that gives 45 hp!! I will fab that thing to fit mine!!

Now K&N did just release their 5.7 CAI kit..try them again..MAC also has theirs out now.

See the problem is is that DC made the HEMI so well that there is almost no room for aftermarket toys.

Gibson was working on headers but reportidly gave up...as did KB

as for exhaust, true there are not many companies out there that are marketing a cat back "system". So, make your own. Run up to your local muffler shop (after securing your mufflers of choice) and have them bendf the pipes for you!! you will get the same gains, and prbably save a few bucks!!

Kenny Bell is currently working on a S/C application for the 5.7 but because of the new computer DC went with they keep running into road blocks!! As of now, Look for the KB S/C around January.

Dont expect anything as far as computers, or chips any time soon though.

One last point, another road block may have something to do with the Hemi being deemed the throw away engine!! The fact that the dealers are not allowed to remove the heads should tell you something!!! If they dealership would have to go "inside" the motor..they have to pull it and replace it instead!!!

In recap :)    check K&N again, or MAC.....get a Borla, Flowmaster, or Magnaflow mufflers....and be patient with the charger!!

Oh, and welcome

found it :)

hey there guys just read this s**t from another site:
Hi Everyone.

Obtained a factory service manual for 2003 Dodge Trucks. The Hemi is not designed as a rebuildable engine.

Facts from service manual:

Engine Block: If Cylinder Bore Taper more than .001", replace block; If Cylinder Bore Out of Round exceeds 001", replace block.

Heads: Valve guides worn, replace head; head out of flat more than .002" overall, replace head.

Connecting Rods/Pistons: DO NOT remove Piston Pin from Rod, Connecting Rod and Piston are serviced as an assembly only.

NOTE ON ABOVE: It's just as well Dodge designed the Hemi this way, the vast majority of Engine "Rebuilders" put out junk.

Oil Pressure Guage: If pressure below 6 psi with engine running, needle held against low stop, warning lamp lights and chime sounds.

If Oil pressure is 6 psi or more gauge needle is moved to a position "consistent with customer expectations"- the middle of guage scale.

No more "why does my oil pressure gauge move around?" questions to bother Dodge.

Visited my local friendly Dodge parts dpartment and saw a brand new Hemi pulled out of a truck still owned by Dealer. New long block (everything except intake) waiting in "crate". It seems the guys took it to the car wash after the Pre-Delivery Inspection and, well, you know, compression was lost in two cylinders. It is one good looking engine with those big aluminum heads!

Well cant find the 45hp cai guess they went out of business but did find a Helix power tower plus....raises the throddle body 1 inch..comes with all parts for 5.7 hemi.....says 15hp/19ft torgue gain....159.99........And yes true about the HEMI being a throw away motor...except they dont throw it away they rebuild it and check to see what failed at the highland park engineering complex  as per my best friend who is a chrysler/dodge engineer. If you noticed the name HEMI and the design of the motor is a registered trademark of diamlerchrysler. No other HEMI engines were. Not the old 50's ones or th 60's-70's 426 HEMI. And i was told at my dealer point blank cause they know i cant leave well enough alone "unscrew a valve cover nut an your warranty is gone so is that engine if we have to work on it." Dodge made some radical changes to this motor as to the previous years and they dont want to tell yet what they did. The biggest tech article i read on it and made me go out an buy one was in Mopar Action march 03 i think it was.......hummm..

JBA has a header and y-pipe setup that I read about in the November 03 Sport Truck magazine. It only showed a 15hp gain but also said the headers would not void the factory warranty. That's according to the writer! The dealer may have a different opinion.

As for parts Mopar Racing has some but i'm not sure it is what your looking for. also you can check out The hemi that might help out some too. So let me know what you think if these don't help i might know some other places as well.

Do Not Buy A TB Spacer!! Snake oil.  Spacers from the carb days (wood)  isolated the carb thermally, giving cooler fuel in the bowls, hence more hp.  If it was the older style efi that had injectors in the tb the spacers would possibly help, otherwise the tb is just an air meter and wont see a gain.  Spacers can interfer installing a cold air setup too with reduced clearances.

15hp gains on the JBA headers sounds like a good gain to me. I figured my Edlebrocks on a stock 5.9 (genI knn @ time) only gave about 7-8hp. They are one of the better working headers for the 5.9s.

Man thats really going to piss off a lot of guys, not even being able to pop the valvecovers off

The supercharger is done and working fine. They are holding up on the release date due to the SRT-10 release. DC has convinced them not to release it until all SRT-10's are pre-sold. If you don't believe me, look here. As you can see they have already put them on some trucks and they are running strong. One thing everyone should understand. Manufacturers help the aftermarket industry by releasing data that will aid in tuning their product, and on the other side of the coin the aftermarket sometimes has to abide by the manufacturers request. This request from DC is to hold a release until all SRT-10 trucks are pre-sold.

Well thinks for the help guys found just about everything ive been hunting for.  And ALL srt-10's have been sold the entire run is now offically sold out. If you want one you will have to wait till mid year for the 04's which highland park still hasen't commited to build as of yet. Same thing with the srt viper as the 03's being sold to previous viper buyers only. But the good news should have my srt-10 at the end of the month will let you know how it goes. been waiting for over three months now. Made a call to bell about there hemi supercharger some time in nov possible december. But im going to wait till next year and read up any follow ups on it. My buddy emailed me today that mopar performance is making a computer and fuel injector swap kit like the srt series for the hemi and magnum 4.7 engines and the 3.7 also due out in march 04 or sooner. They are getting the emission problems worked out an this will not void the factory warranty. He said it will be a learning computer were the sky is the limit as far as aftermarket mods go, about time. Also the 6.1 or 383 hemi motor is due out late 04 on the 05 model 2500/3500 trucks and maybe the 1500, etc. If they can get it to pass the 2007 emissions tests. Which are going to be tough so all you hot rodders brace yourselfs if you dont pass the 07 but made the 05 e test! But that is subject to change. For me i ordered the jba long tube headers, highflow cat, and borla muffs and will do a custom true dual syatem will post the sound when im done with it, also going with the air raid cai and mopar fuel computer when i land one and if kelly bell's charger is up to snuff i will install that. Happy raceing....

Not until sometime soon though!  It seems they have figured out how to cram more air into the mouth of the beast!

From my experience as an Auto shop teacher and computers teacher, any modifications you make to an automobile does not void the warranty directly (per legislation). It may only void the warranty if THEY can prove that the modifications you made are what caused the problem on hand. Just make sure any mods you make you keep complete and accurate paper work and records on if you are afraid of the manufacuture. If you are told that certain things will void your warranty have the dealership show you in writing that what they are saying is true.

In response to the exhaust situation, for dual exhaust I know flow master as of Oct. 15 doesnt have a recommended muffler. And from reading some other bulletins specifically for Hemi owners they put a true dual exhaust on and actually lost horsepower verified by dyno testing. They wonder if Dodge got it right from the factory.. heheh  although they enjoyed the sound of the exhaust.

I think why there is no aftermarket for the 5.7 is that it is the newest dodge engine. But give the aftermarket some time and there should be a good sized aftermarket

Update. I ordered the Borla dual system for my HEMI Ram and did not like the sound and i lost rwhp. So i took it to my budies mufler shop and told him i wanted 2.50 inch duals with dual cats and flowmaster muffs exiting behind the wheels with chrome tips. This set up sounds good. It rumbles instead of growls and i can spin 'em thru third gear from a dead stop. Now i just need to do something with that auto Trans.

SPIN'EM THRU THIRD GEAR    . I have JBA headers and a Dynomax Ultraflow race muffler with dual 2.5's coming out in front of the rear wheel but I can only spin'em until I hit second! Maybe it's because I'm spinning the stock 265/70/17 all-terrains??

It also might depend on the series of truck. The 1500 should be the lightest.
