I have no confusion about who owns DC; as a matter of fact, what is being lamented is the way those who own it seem to view a significant portion of their customer base.
Sure, DC owns the Charger name, and they pay the bucks for the ads that I've mentioned that irritate me. They've got the decision making power to build what they want and to advertise how they want...
but that doesn't remove or insulate them from criticism. Trevor Creed knew that when he reminded everyone who owned the Charger name in response to our vocal disappointment in the car's appearance. Not smart, in my opinion. Not good PR. No recognition on his part that I can make a decision to never even consider buying another new Chrysler product, no recognition on his part that literally thousands of people who were waiting to see the Charger will just buy something else. I've got three people of the car-buying status living under my roof who feel just that way, who know that I've driven Chrysler products my entire life and that I'm so turned off by DC's attitude that my considerable loyalty is out the window.
What goes around comes around.

And when aliyahfromDodgeinfo wants to say that Dodge cares about the wants and needs of it's traditional customer (or words to that effect), she should check with Trevor Creed, because he is certainly serving a different flavor of Kool-Aid when he, in his own words, tells us we can drop dead if we don't like this warmed over Mercedes that he named "Charger".

And you thought I was surly before....

Loghead,

You seem to be confused about who owns DC and your place in the decision making process. Your initial post was agressive and contributed no useful information, only a surly opinion. Why are you surprised that somone would push back? Isn't that why you made the post?

Hehe. You just nailed it. "your post contained no useful information ... only an opinion". That's a perfect example of the attitude that has come to light with the introduction of this car as a Charger.

Loghead: Well said.

In short, being a company operating in a capitalist society where generally, the more happy customers the merrier -- I find most everything that has surrounded the '06 release rather bizzarre. If you are going to have a stern staunch attitude and actually turn potential customers away, let alone those loyal to the foundation of the company -- you better be rich. No, as an average joe on the street, I don't own any portion of DCX, but what do you think drives their success? Pleasing as many people as possible. At least, more than the competition. And any effort (regardless of positive response and sales) that does as they have done, is just plain wacky. Though I realize companies change their target markets and products all the time, but generally it is more of a passive transition with relation to customers, not to mention, they don't still try and ride the product they are leaving behind, look someone in the face, and try and tell them it's what they *really* want, it's actually the same (no opinions allowed!), or the best: it's better because your opinion, you, do not matter -- you need to readjust yourself to what we are producing, and you are wrong if you don't. THAT IS JUST INSANE.

I'm not finished.

"he probably drives a 1930 piece of ford. stop living in the past loghead. if you haven't noticed it is 2006, and old cars cant compare to today's beauty. "

It's 2006?

What time zone are you in?

Today's beauty?

I looked around at some of your posts on other threads and in certain cases, you made reference to your age (less than 35), so I in light of the probability that you think it's attractive to:

1) Wear a baseball cap somewhere between sideways and backwards.

2) Wear pants that take twice as much fabric as mine do, but still can't seem to cover your backside.

3) Have enough metal objects protruding from your nose, tongue, lips and eyebrows that you resemble a trophy bass on ESPN as it's being hauled into a
boat by a fisherman (who's over 35).

I'll consider the source.

Now I'm finished.

i thought that it was funny....and how true it is about most people in the late high school years to this point. nicko uis not like that, as i dont think that the Young Republicans Club woudl take him if he had piercings...but as for the baseball cap and saggy pants, i dont know.

im sure the charger will kick all sorts of ass, but the fact of the matter is that like myself, some people just dont want a bigger sedan.

Done, everyone is welcome to express their opinion here. his post which "contained no useful information" was simply stating what he owned, and his portrayal of modern youths and their "im white and my mommy and daddy make six figures a year but i am forced to grow up acting like a proud black man in white america"...if you dont think that it DEAD on, you must live in a different country.

Well "done"(no pun intended), your post really surprises me very little, since you've seen fit to criticise me for having anything but a muted opinion about anything, while Sir Nick, as I've discovered, has uttered in many of his thousands of posts, that all "old" cars are ugly, and anyone who thinks otherwise is either old or stupid.

Somehow I doubt that you would find my pointing out which calendar year it actually is to be "trash", so I'll address the part that I took great mirth in typing.
Who can ignore the bizarre fashion sense of today's youth?
When I see a kid or young (chronological) adult looking like they slept in a Salvation Army bin and got dressed in there, and think that it looks good,
I think we can put their aesthetic sense into some perspective.

Hmmm. I agree old cars are ugly, but that doesn't make anyone stupid. It's just a difference in what time period you were born in and what vehicles you grew up with.

That has nothing to do with suggestions on the Charger. Kids these days want to stick out for some reason, thus the fashion fads.

Chill out people, Log head and Done, everyone has opinions... that doesn't make them right or wrong.

I would like to point out that I did not criticize Loghead's age, intelligence, appearance, style of dress or the car he drives.

In fact, he writes a well ordered post with good spelling and grammar.

I just find his "over the top" ranting to be annoying.

You complain about personal attaks, and then you do it towards Nick.

I am 20, I wear my hat straight, I wear stylish pants, I have NO peircings. Because I'm young, I'm supposed to be doing all the things you stated. LOL You're funny!

Good for you.
Please read that post again, where I said it was a probability (as opposed to a fact) that this is how Nick presents himself. It's not a personal slam, just an observation about the majority of today's youth and how it relates to their sense of style, and their sense of automotive beauty, and it's not to say that everyone under 35 hates old cars.
I've had quite few more birthdays than 35, and I admire cars of both eras. I like retro styling, but I don't require it, and I don't feel that the Charger needed to rely on retro to the degree that the Mustang does...but, a few more visual cues, blending the beauty of the old Charger with the beauty and sleekness of the LH/LHS would have been much better.

Of, course reserving the iconic power of a retro name like "Charger" for a car more befitting the name, and naming this car something else (Magnum sedan...R/T...even a Super Bee version anyone?) would have been a more palatable choice, along with a more palatable attitude from DC.
