I heard a rumor about this at the local Mopar speed shop, does anybody know if there is any truth to it?

i kinda doubt it, but if they do i sure hope it is a two door RWD and a v8, if that happens i will feel a little better about the charger

I've heard some stuff about it, but they seem like hopes, not rumors.

true. i was just saying it needs to have all of those features to make me feel better about the charger- because knowing chrysler they would come out with a two door car called challenger and make it a v6 fwd which would be dumb. i love chrysler but i have to admit when it comes to bean counting i think they screw up quite a bit. i wouldnt put it passed them making a new car thats 2 door and fwd, when they could have saved money by making a 2 door on the charger platform- which would be more desirable, but then they would come up with some lame ass excuse of why the car is onlly a v6 fwd.

I think Dodge is convinced the Charger is its 'muscle' model.

Most of the Challenger business is just internet scuttlebutt.

Some have theorized that the Challenger might just be re-badge of the Mitsubishi Eclipse compact/pony car. In essence it would replace the Stratus coupe, which I think is a very underappreciated car, especially by Dodge fans.

The more you look into this LX based Challenger rumor, the more you will see that the references to 'facts' just loop back to some guy with hope in his heart, tapping on the keyboard like all the rest of us.

The Stratus coupe is not appreciated by Dodge fans because it is not a Dodge. It is an underpowered Mitsubishi with a Dodge nameplate on it. I bet a decent vehicle will come out called the Challenger. The Germans understand the value of some of Chrysler's old names and the Hemi, Magnum, 300 and Charger are probably just the start.

yeah yeah jack...we know..nothing dodge makes is a real dodge...everything is made elsewhere;..does that make dodge a non-existant company??

i have only owned dodges...but just to piss off MORONS who make comments like that, i have my "powered by mitsubishi" pads on my race harnessess. :)

LOL! yeah those pos's were ho-larious i didnt even know they existed till about a year ago and a lady i work with said she had owned a 78 challenger. i didnt believe her - i thought she was just making a mistake on the year of the car but i looked it up and was surprised!!

Personally, the ONLY problem I have with the Stratus is that it is Front-Wheel-Drive. I come from the old school where all true muscle cars were Rear-Wheel-Drive. I do like everything else about the Stratus.

the stratus/sebring coupe is some of the best looking sheet metal dodge has.

I really hope they don't badge a new eclipse with challenger badges, that would really piss me off. But on the other hand I do see a trend coming with the re-introduction of the charger, HEMI motor, and 300 series cars.

I started to see the trend when the fatally disappointing GTO came out. Then the re-release of the Ford GT. Now the Charger. I wouldn't be surprised if a Challenger came out as well. Let's not hope the Charger/Challenger don't end up to be as colossal a disappointment as the GTO(I saw some concepts of it in 99, and if Pontiac would've kept it the same, they would have a slaying).
