Just recently, I had my spare tire stolen from under my truck. When I bought my truck, a Dodge Factory spare tire lock by Winco was installed. Well, when the tire was take it seems that they may have winched the tire cable down just enough so that they could kick the tir repeatedly enough that the bar with the deep notches just cracked right off at the one fo the notches. I called Daimler-Chrysler to discuss the problem, but they avoided it like a bad case of Montezuma's revenge. Has anyone else had this happen to them, and if so did you get the same run around were peolpe (i.e. dealer, mfg., etc.) tell you to call your insurance company? By the way, my truck is a 2003, bought new, it only has 26,700 miles on it , so the warranty should have taken care of since the lock was factory installed. Someone help me figure this out. Thnaks.

Ok, try this one.

I have a 2000 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab that HAS a spare lock of some sort on it, but I bought it used (dealer demo) and whomever had the vehicle before me either pitched or LOST the key that goes with it. I now have a left front that is coming apart and I cannot just put the spare on OR replace the spare tire when I get a new set because I don't HAVE THAT KEY. I have called several dealers who have all told me that unless I give permission to CUT PARTS OFF MY TRUCK that I CANNOT remove the spare from the winch to fix a potentially dangerous situation.

Bottom line is, Dodge service techs or supervisors don't give a rat's @ss and just want to spend extra labor and parts on EVERY service they perform. I will NEVER do business with this company again, for they laughlingly refuse to solve a seemingly simple problem without a massive expense and huge labor bill for everything that has ever gone wrong. (Moisture in headlight assembly . . . $10 bulb $350 REPLACEMENT OF ENTIRE LENS ASSEMBLY, some special order fee and 3 hours labor . . . to fix a HEADLIGHT) cost me near $500 by the time it was all said and done to FIX A $10 HEADLIGHT!!!!) Give me the sealed beams anytime over that business . . .
