ORIGINAL: Snafu So get a diesel Excusion and let those of us that have trucks for the cargo capacity (like they were intended) have the crew cab and 8' box. Ok, you don't get it, thats all right. BTW, U already got ur truck. There is just a major market not being address by the major companies, seems like they would wake up and address it, first one there makes a killing. An easy solution with excisting parts. The Ford 3/4 ton Concept Tonka truck a few years ago, met the requirements. Once the need is understood and recognized, then some company will make a killing. 10,000 to 20,000 unit sales taken from a competing company is nothing to sneeze at.

No, you don't get it. They're TRUCKS. The auto companies are building the goddamn grocery-getters like you're asking for for all the yuppie bastids out there that are buying trucks because they're in style. They're running the prices up to rediculous levels and it pisses me off. Myself and everyone I know that need work trucks can't get a truck that fits the requirements because the auto companies are pandering to the yuppies that are willing to pay $50k for a freaking truck. I need a work truck. I need something that'll pull a 15,000 pound trailer, can haul a round bale or 40 full sheets of plywood in the bed WITH an over the rail toolbox installed, can seat 5-6 big guys comforatably for a 2500 mile trip, and has a drivetrain that'll handle the abuse of farming (ie SOLID AXLES). Ford is the only company that makes one right now that's even close, but the motors and transmissions are a joke and they want too much for them. I was hoping Dodge would come thru with this Mega Cab in a longbox dually, with the Cummins, 6-speed, and AAM solid axles, but they're pussing it out as another damn grocery-getter. Here's the part you don't get- All the auto companies are alienating the people who buy trucks, and will continue to buy trucks long into the future, because they NEED trucks, not because it's popular to have a truck. When the fad goes away, the yuppies will move on to something else. They already are starting to. And the auto companies will have all these $50k grocery-getters that they won't be able to unload cause they don't fit the requirements of workers, are way too expensive, and cause they've pissed off their base market so much we refuse to buy anything new anymore. You may think that 10,000 - 20,000 trucks is a big deal. Think about how many each company puts out each year total. Your 10k - 20k vehicles are LESS than 5% of the market for a single company. It's not worth the cost of tooling for such a small margin on a niche vehicle. The payout is not worth the investment.
