if gas mileage is a serious consideration the R/T isn't for you, get a 4.7 with a manual. the R/T i have is a blast to drive and performs great, lights up the tires at will. but yeah 15-16mpg isnt the greatest.

Depends what you want to do with it, too. If I remember correctly the rated payload and towing capacities of the R/T are waaaay down compared to any other V8 Dakota (800 lb payload, 2000 lb towing I think it was). So if you're wanting to haul more than that, a R/T might not be for you.

I own an R/T, and it doesnt get any less gas mileage than my 3.5 litre v6 in my chrysler new yorker. Its all in how you drive it. If you drive it easy and keep your foot out of it, its good, but when you mash it, its gonna drink. Its not the most powerful truck on the road, but its more of a platform to work with. The 360 has huge potential in the aftermarket world. Its all in how much you wanna spend.

I will say that the rims and the fender flares and the lower suspension on the R/T really make it look good, but again, it has a lot of room to build on in the exterior market also, so its all up to you.

Well if your into auto X'ing, the R/T is still considered one of the most nimble sport trucks, more so than even the Lightning and the SRT-10 Ram, and of course as others have mentioned the huge after market potential the truck has.

i wasnt sure if i wanted a 4x4 or an r/t when i bought mine. i came across a 2wd sport with a 5.2, and the price was too good to pass up so i bought it and have never had a single regret, that was 3 years ago!!
