Default Fuel pump died...

The fuel pump on my father's 98 just died, and guess who was the last one to drive it[:@]

Oh well, at least it stopped at home, we have been commuting between Ft. Lauderdale and Miami for the last 3 weeks for a job we have been doing, its just sad knowing the wrecker is coming for it

Oh yeah, its also got 185,000 miles, this will be the 2nd time replacing the pump.

Those are on the tad bit expensive side. I would attempttrying to syphon the fuel through the pump. If you can I would install an inline pump. Wire it to a source that comes on with your ignition. Never have to worry about it again. Not to mention it is a hell of a lot cheaper fix.

I lied, the pump has NEVER been replaced, in 180000 miles, in the South Florida heat, it was the original Mopar pump. We just put it up on the rack, pulled the tank, stuck a new pump in it, and it fired right up, only took about 30 minutes, and we got $100 off the pump, as our price, I love working at a repair shop

BTW, if anyone needs a pump, get the Airtex brand. Its made here in USA, in Illinoise.

You should have gone with a Delphi pump, as I have not been hearing good things about the Airtex. And I have not had good luck with the Carters I replaced mine with.

What r the chances of running an aftermarket pump like mallory along with an external fuel filter so you can actually change the damn thing.

The Airtex brand is just Master fuel pump, same company. For the price difference at Advance Auto I would go with BOSCH. Bosch has a lifetime warranty for $248.99 and Airtex 1 year is $238.99. Bosch just has to be ordered and is available overnight.
