Default RE: replace headlight housing?

If you only need to replace the lens (headlight...not the bulb, but the lens the bulb mounts to), the bumper d/n need to be removed. There are a few screws that hold the lens assy to a frame assy. (3 as I recall). After the scrwes are removed, pull the lens from the mount and disco the harness. Now if you need to remove the entire frame (the part with the levels), I belive the bumper facia needs to be removed. Unless you had an accident, you are prob just wanting to change the lens (loose or yellowed), and not the frame assy.

I think you only need remove the fascia, not the entire bumper

You need to remove the wheelhouse splash shields, and fog lamps (if equipped). Remove fascia fasteners from wheel well, the bottom (holding bottom of fascia to radiator closure pnl) and the screws holding the fascia to the fender. Last disengage fascia from drive pins screws on the bottom of the fenders.

I used my 97 shop manual to summarize the above. There is not a lot of detail in it though. I looked at the second gen manual, and it looks more descriptive...I'm not sure if it's exactly the same though. Go to the second gen forum. At the top of it, see the post "the Holy Grail"download the man and go to pg 13-2See if that helps.
