Default 18" magnum wheels on Avenger??
i went down to Discount Tire and they said they will fit but i might get vibrations and thats all he would tell me.

Will this damage my car or whats the whole deal with that?

He probably means that you have less tire and you will feel more of the road when you drive. No, it wont damage anything.
