Default Help!

I just had put in a complete Zooks custom header kit and a Billy Boat custom exhaust, noe I have a check engine light. Anyone got any ideas where I should start looking? I'm pretty sure it's something to do with the O2 sensors. But damn the car sure sounds good and goes zoom faster.

Also I have the complete old exhaust system for sale, but it's pick up only.

Default RE: Help!

what did you do with the Cats?

do you still have your stock ones or none at all or high flows?

99% going to be the 02 sensors though because the readings are going to be different than what it is expecting hence the code

It's because of the hi-flow cats, O2 sensors are going nuts. Going to try some O2 sensor extensions to see if that clears the problem.

Most people either turn off the O2 sensors (however you wont pass inspection if you do that) or what i did was during my CMR tune they changed the parameters that the O2 sensors look for which leads to no more codes!

I've been told about a CMR tune, just what is that? And how is it done? At least someone on this forum is actually being helpfull, and I thank you for that. Are you on the Charger forum at www.chargerforums.com? Seems like there are more people there than here.

Again thanks a lot for helping.

CMR tune is a custom tune for your car.

*if this is too dumbed down, think of this as an explication for anyone who might have this issue as well*

All cars are going to be different with the power they make, shifts, and other variables like that. the 6th car off the assembly line will be different then the 12th then the 2038th. In general they are all given the same "tune" to begin with as they are all close enough. The canned tunes from the predator or other such programmer are just modified general tunes that will be more aggressive then the stock tune from the factory. But they again have to base things off of general parameters.

The CMR tuning is very specific to your car (if done in person). A good CMR tuner (and no they are NOT all created equal) will go into your cars computer, look at the different tables and vairables, and adjust them to suit your desires. You can have conservitave tunes to race tunes (including using 100octane).

When you are using the predator, you can turn off the O2 tables so that you dont throw codes. A CMR tuner will adjust the tables to expect the readings that your getting so no codes will be thrown and the O2 sensors can remain on (helping you pass inspection).

There are a few ways you can get a CMR tune done.

1) Email tunes - this is another "general" tune but will be able to be better customized to your needs (as in you can say "im throwing O2 codes and need that fixed")

2) Street tuning - This is how i got mine done. This is when a tuner will bring their software (on a laptop) out and will plug into your car (again using your predator that you will need for CMR tuning) and adjust your tables that way

3) Dyno tuning - they throw your car on a Dyno and plug it into the computer that way and do pulls to see how the tune is going.

hopefully this answers your questions, and if not feel free to ask for more detail on anything.

Wow thanks for the info, just a couple of questions.

1. What does CMR stand for.
2. Which predator should I get.
3. What software do these guys use.

I basically just want the car to act like a race car, but be street legal, and blow away just about anything it comes up against.

1) CMR stands for Chip Master Revolution.

2) The Diablo Predator for our cars is Part # U7135 and can be purchased at a number of locations http://www.diablosport.com/index.php...ay&pid=118

3) Depends on the tuner. My tuner just brought out a new software tuning program the day I got mine tuned. My car is an animal now.

I was at the track on Saturday and on the strip we thought it would be funny to see what would happen if i just floored it in automatic. Well what happens is a 400' burnout! hahaha

Yeah basically my car does that now, have to let up on the throttle do get traction, even with ESP on. Just need to get it so it will pass emissionsinspection. So who is your CMR programmer of choice? I wouldn't mind trying it myself just as long as I can reverse anything I have done.

I would NOT recommend you try doing anything on your own unless you have the background to do so. You will find many an SRT owner with a destroyed engine from someone messing around with timing or air fuel mix's or something else they shouldn't have.
