Default how do i convert my neon to rear disk brakes?

in light of recent events, im making this post.....so,

to do this, you will need the following parts:
rear disk brake rotors
rear brake pads
rear brake lines (just the rubber hose thats located in the wheel well)
rear calipers
rear rotor backing plate w/e-brake setup
e-brake cables

now, to take the rear disc brake setup off a car:
1: jack up the rear of the car.
2: remove the rear wheels.
3: remove the 2-10mm slider bolts that hold the calipers to the backing bracket.
4: then disconnect the rubber brake line from the steel rake line located in the front side of the inner fender well. then unbolt the rubber brake line mounting bracket from the inner fender well.(2-10mm bolts)
5: unbolt thelast rubber brake line mounting bracket from the inside of the rear strut.(1-10mm bolt)then set the brake line and caliper aside.
6: slide the rotor off the lug nut studs, make sure the e-brake isnt engaged or it wont come off very easy.
7: use a screwdriver to pry the dust cap off the hub bolt.
8: remove the hub bolt and slide off the rear wheel bearing. (1 1/8" socket works i do believe)
9: behind the wheel bearing you will see 4-15mm bolts in a square pattern. remove all 4 bolts and the backing plate/caliper mount will come loose. before you can remove the backing plate, you will need to remove the e-brake cable from inside the car.
10: follow the e-brake cable underneath the car along the jack rail, you will find a bracket that mounts that cable to the bottom of the car, remove the 1-15mm bolt holding the bracket to the car and the cable should hang freely
11: to remove the e-brake cable from inside the car, remove the center console, to do this, there are 4 screws inside the center console arm rest/cubby, and 2 screws around the edge of the cup holders in front (if its a 97-99) or, in the cup holders (if its a 95-96)
12: once the center console is out, make sure the e-brake handle is all the way down, then remove the 2-13mm bolts that mount the handle/bracket to the car.
13: once the handle is un-mounted, it will be easy to turn it to dislodge the e-brake cable square ends. then use a 9/16"box end wrench and slide over the cable end. push the wrench all the way to the end of the cable and over the cable retaining clips. once the wrench is in the proper position, you will be able to pull the cable out from the rear through the mounting brace.
14: once the cables are loose, you can pull them out through the underneath of the car.

then there you go. you have everything needed to do a rear disc brake swap. the steps will be the same for removing the drum brakes from your car. and installation is the opposite of removal.

i wrote this all from memory, so if im missing sumthing, feel free to let me know and i will add it.

you can use the drum brake master cylinder without any problems...

where do you buy the parts?
anywhere you can find them....ebay, junk yard, internet for sale posts

what model neons?
any model that came with disk brakes...mainly R/T's, ACR's, and some sports..all depends on if the car had disk brakes as an option

FYI the swap will make your stopping distance longer

that depends on your setup, and disks wont fade as quickly as drums if you plan on road racing it or using it for time trials

i personally swap to disc brakes just because i like the looks of them better and for the ease of replacing them when they go bad compared to drum brakes

Actual proof of this would be nice. The actual distance would be minimal I would think.

i dont think its much because of the fact that its on the rears, never looked into it tho, im more worried about fade since ill be running really wide hoosiers

i think the reason they would stop better is due to having more surface area in contact then disk pads due

no proof since i broke my rear disc setup, but experiance. My theory is the proportion valves arnt made to take advantage of the rear discs

So do you believe that changing the master cylinder would disprove your theory?
