OK, this guy at work bought a used 04 Ranger/v6. I congratulated him on his new purchase and offered to run against it, like 1st one to 65mph on the closest highway, because i also had a v6. he rolled his eyes laughing and said "i'll leave you in the dust!" He continued on about how he had the "tow package" and his truck will "s**t and get!"
Now, im a humble guy and i have no misconception of my v6 in a heavy dakota body that it is not the fastest thing on the road. i know my place in the pecking order. HOWEVER this guy had preceded to talk smack all over our warehouse complex claiming his truck would dog two other guy's v8 dakota 4x4's and another guys v8 chevy trailblazer!
I need to stomp him in a race on general principle! [>:] What are my chances? Mine:
98 dakota sport 3.9 v6, CAI, superchips tuner set to "performance" running 91 octane or higher, 180 thermostat, otherwise stock. I do have 18" wheels/faulken tires to slow me down and a fiberglass tonnaeu cover. His:
2004 Ford Ranger v6 "tow package" otherwise stock.

Dude let me be the first to say that the ranger is the most usless car on the road! I HATE them and I wish them off the earth.
BUT to be helpful my dad and my friend both have a newer ones 02+ both V6s. I drove my dads and the frist gear is sooo low that my mom skips it entirerly! My friends has an aftermarket exhaust (never asked what it was but I will now ) and I followed him and it seemed quick. I wasnt getting on it at all really but he definatly pulled away. Now my dads is a stick and my buddies is an auto, Im sure that makes a difference. My friends seemed quicker off the line than my dads.
I would race him for poops just dont talk **** so if you lose you can just blow it off and be humble. BUT if you win you need to be a dink for the rest of us!!

dude just a couple of hundred and get some nos, but dont open your hood for him, 150 hp should do. but eather take it off or turn it down after the race. iam thinking it might be to much for your trany good luck.
First off, yall better make a run to check for cops or have some buddies around... getting caught for racing isn't fun!
But, in all due respect, I think the ranger might have you sadly (despite my utter love for Dodge, and the fact I also own a 3.9 v6 Quad Cab).
I looked at some specs, and the Ranger seems to have slightly better hp and torque, but then its a smaller truck with nearly the same sized engine... So its no wonder why
Best of luck to you though man. Being a better driver is the key to a race, especially if its manuel
from being a ranger owner... depending on which V-6 he has... it will smoke u hands down... if he's got te 4.0.... mise well say good bye... almost perfect setup for that truck is 4.0 4.10 gears 5spd man... o yah.. lol.. when i get rid of my dodge ill have another ranger....

This guy is right. My very First Truck was a 4.0 Ranger and god damn that thing could light the tires up no problem it was sick. For how much it weights the 4.0 puts down some power and mine was auto,
my friend had a v6 chevy truck and i smoked him. That little v6 can get up and go.
now you have a v6 3.9l dakota that weights probably 1k maybe 2 more then his truck. He will win...
but if he keeps talking smack ill let you borrow my R/T and then let him talk **** while he is saying hello to my rear end.
