i hear alot about what the new caddys "will have"...whats all this "will" nonsense? does the car actually exist, or is it a magazine article that people keep quoting? and what is the price of the STSv caddy compared to the SRT8 magnum? i would have to think that the caddy with 440hp would cost ALOT more than the magnum?

The Caddy engines are significantly inferior to the Chrysler Hemis, the caddy/Chevy small blocks need 11.0 to 1 compressing to get 400hp the 6.1 Hemi has 10.3 to 1 and is already at 440 horse power, and it is not force induced like the Caddy 4.4

i agree with you there, but does anyone know if this 440hp caddy actually exists, or when it will be in showrooms?

Well I am a avid Pontiac fan with my 98 Grand Prix GTP. I have done some tuning on it to increase HP & Torque but did not want to go overboard and have things breaking on me. The past 3 years I have been watching the cars and nothing has really caught my eye. Sure the G35 looks kinda cool but is more of a luxury type and is not much of a step up from the GTP.

I was excited when I heard about the GTO coming back only to be let down on the very hard to use back seat, no trunk to speak of and very bland styling. The 05 is an improvement with the hood scoops and the split rear exhaust but the scoops are not even functional. I also HATED the sound system. I supose they figure most people don't really care about seating 4 people comfortably or a trunk that they can use for more than carrying around a set of golf clubs. That maybe so but they really missed the boat on me.

They are coming out with a small block V8 GXP for the Grand Prix soon. Same for Impala & Monte. To me though it was to little too late.

So I got real excited when I heard about the Charger and the sizing, styling, HP etc. The 0-60 stats on the 5.7 look somewhat mediocre though. I was hoping to get into low 5's or better with my next car. I am not sure what the 6.1 will run. Anyone have estimated stats on that?

Anyway, I am a new subscriber here just starting to warm up to the idea that a Dodge may replace my Pontiac!

I was all set to buy a GTO when I heard they were going to build it, I was hoping that they would make it a 4 door (it is a Holden). But since it is only a 2 door, I bought my Magnum RT and just love it.

I assume that the Charger is only available with 2 doors also?

Happy with my choice,

Bob

Where have you been? Partof the big stink over the new car is the door quantity..... but that's only the first of many issues with it! It's 4 door ONLY.

Finally got to touch feel and watch the new Charger RT in action. I absolutely love this vehicle. They putt it up against a New 05 Ford Mustang GT. The Charger not only beat it in acceleration and breaking, it beat it through the slalom test, the Stang spun out trying to keep up.

The mustang GT has the loudest stock exhaust I have ever heard. You couldn't even hear the Chargers, all you could do was watch it smoke the smaller and not even comparable ford.

The coolest thing was watching the Viper and Ram SRT-10s do a burn-out/drift ballet of smoke. When 95% of the people left, they brought out a 300C SRT-8 and drifted that baby for about 50 feet also.

Hey sniper226, the 300C SRT-8 is already in the high 12s down the 1/4 mile with an Auto. you show me a stock GM w/auto that's not a vett than can do this. The Charger SRT-8 will be even faster. Even a Charger RT will get a 13.9 before its even broken in.

Getting to look at this car up close I looked it over very well and I truly love every curve.

Wrong. In fact, not only can it hardly get into the mid 13s with an auto, its listed as 13.3 with the 6 speed. Thats pathetic.

The gto looks just like all of the other pontiac cars. They needed to make it actually look like the original, not throw a corvette engine under the hood. I hate it.

To be fair, you really need to conduct the same poll in a GTO/Pontiac forum. Of course Dodge will prevail here.
(Even though I like the Charger better and I am a current Pontiac owner)

ok,......... Food for thought, apples to apples would be to compare the SRT-8 Charger to a GTO though, the SRT-8 Charger 5 Sd Auto is already in the high 12s, what would it be with a 6 speed + Good driver................

Well some are far from reality, this one guy says "In order to get me in a charger you would have to offer a 2dr, M6, and try and come close in interior quality." What an idiot.... Seriously, Interior quality from GM cars that are not caddys?? BAAHAHAHAA...

Anyway though, they dont seem to bad overall, I just see a whole lotta underrating the LX platforms, Do any of these guys realize they are comparing a sport 2 door foundation to a 4 door sedan foundation... Maybe if we dropped 600lbs and added a 6 speed there would not be no contest. But now-adays everyone compares apples to oranges so it doesn’t matter.
