Default uh oh, trans issue getting worse

ok, 01 R/T CC. problem started about 4 months ago, pregressivly getting worse. transmission acts normal under normal driving conditions. shifts fine, everything is OK. this is when i have the problem: lets say i'm driving 40 in a 45 behind some slow piecs of sh!t. ok, so i floor it and pass in the opposite lane, what happens is that the trans kicks down like normal then when it is supposed to shift back up it misses the shift and i hit the rev limiter. i have to let off the gas and let the revs settle down then i can gas it again (not WOT) and it'll find its way to the next gear. it only happens like 50% of the time but it used to only happen like 10% of the time. AAARRRGH! any ideas on what it could be? my idea was to get a power programmer and set the shift points a little different, buuuut i can't seem to find a programmer for my truck that changes shift points..... thanks a lot everyone,

~J~

Default RE: uh oh, trans issue getting worse

That's happened once on my '97 Dakota. The WOT 1-2 shift never happened. It bounced off the rev limiter and wouldn't shift until I backed off. Mine would also very occassionally upshift into 3rd from 2nd, and quickly shift back down into 2nd and then back up into 3rd all very quickly, and only in low throttle situations.

Check your fluid level. I'm not all that sure what mine was at the time, but I've since changed the transmission fluid with fresh ATF+4 and it's filled to the correct level. None of the anamolies that occured for me have happened since.
