Just did mine again on Saturday. Remember, the cover bolts go to 30 ft/lbs and the fill plug is 24 ft/lbs.

Is it common for the gasket to fail at some point in time. My front cover seems to have developed a small leak, had to top it off alittle the other day.

It shouldnt. May just need to pull the cover, clean the surfaces and put it back together.

You dont use RTV on the 3rd gen axles. They have reusable gaskets.

Did mine just this weekend. Used Amsoil Synthetic Gear Lube. There is a small indicator on the Diff cover pan showing the fluid level line. The Gasket is reusable but I got a new one (OEM). Needed 3 Quarts at the most. Takes about 1/2 hr to do. You don't need to do this often just check the Level once in awhile. Mine was very clear and clean. The plug has a magnet on it so just check for metal build up. Otherwise don't worry about.[sm=icon_cheers.gif]
