Default oil dipstick tube

I broke my dipstick inside the tub. How can I remove the tub from the engine and replace it with a new one. I have a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500. Thanks

unbolt the oil pan on the bottom of the truck and the dipstick can be removed from underneath. You'll need to drain the pan and be careful with the pan gasket as it can be reused.

Default RE: oil dipstick tube

How far down is the dipstickbroken? If its the last4-6" of the dipstick drop the pan, if it broke further up leave the pan on.
Unbolt the 9/16 that holds thedipstick tube to the alt/ac bracket. Clean around where the tube goes into the block. (so no crap goes in when reinstalling) Pull/twist the tube out of the block. Remove the broken dipstick, apply some RTV to the bottom of the tube and reinsert into the blockand put the bolt back in.Put in the new dipstick.
