Default Just bought 3.7l V6, Want Mods!!!!

Hey everyone, I just bought a 2003 3.7l V6, Not the magnum, even though it says it dodge doesn't use the mangum anymore. It's black 5-speed manual,Short Bed and Short Cab,Pioneer head unit and pioneer speakers all the way around. I ran into some money right before i bought it, so now I want to fix it up. I have already found JBA Shorty Headers Part # 1931S, and a True Flow XDI Air Intake. I want to do all the mods at once, including full True Dual exaust, with high flow cats and maybe Flowmaster 40 Series dumped behind the rear axle, i'm not sure yet, yalls opinions would be cool. I want to find something better than a Jet programmer, (I had one on my Ranger and it wasn't all that). I know they have a Stage 1 and 2, if I have to i'll go with the stage 2. And also just for the sound a throttle body spacer. If anybody can give me suggestions or tips, i'd greatly appreciate it.

If you do all of that, and do 4.56 gears. You will completely change the way your truck drives. I would also suggest this sway bar. I have heard really good things about it, but don't have any money. If you get the sway bar, drop that ass end down a couple inches I would say that would be one bad ass truck.

get some gears in there. 410 or 456...your call. make that the first thing you do, save up for it. you can get a big ole' gear like me and hawk have...off the line we're quick. i took a 4.6 f150 to the 1/8th mile by almost a half second...but once i hit 55, all my power goes away cause the 3.7 can't spin that big gear. with my 456, highway driving is prety harsh...i still don't know my exact mpg because i never even know my speed...cause my speedometer is off since i put the 20"s on it....8.2% off...

an exhaust is definitely a good idea, but do some reearch. silent hawk's got a video of his exhaust/headers setup on youtube, and so do i (minusthe headers...you a$sh0lehawk!)

if you don't have the compartment armrest...get one. it holds a lot of crap. see diy section.

here are some vids/sounds:

just don't get what everyone else has. everyone's gonan say get this, get that...who cares...get what no one has. what you need to do is get a 50shot wet kit...50 shot is completely safe. maybe i'll be the first one to get it...just for humor reasons. but yea, on our slugish truck, a 100shot may give me like a second and a half.

as for an intake, you don't need one..it doesn't improve anything really, but it does clear out the engine bay, which is serisouly the only reason i have them. the powerwire thing is good if it's the only mod you have. i loved mine...but now my trucks faster without it...i'm going to track this friday and hopefully i'll verify it.

I disagree on the intake as I am certain that mine made a small difference inthrottle responceand good difference insound. I wouldn't spend a lot though, I paid 80 or so for an ebay one with a K&N filter. Get a full one though that gets hooks straight to the throttle body and gets rid of the stupid airbox.

My MPG did drop a bit with the intake but I put it on in the winter so it possibly it was winter blend gas. They are now on summer blend so I'll see if it is back to normal. This winter even with babying it and coasting in neutral anytime I can I got
13-13.5mpg.

Just curious as to why your truck is faster without the powerwire? At what point in modding did it become faster without the powerwire? At this point I have the powerwire and intake and if I ever get moneyI will do the headers and exhaust.

Ok, first off this might sound arragant, but money is not a problem, so i want to go with the best on everything, that includes a 350 dollar intake. The gears are probably going to be 410, and locker. I'm trying to get crane cams to machine me acam, and superchips told me to f**k off pretty much. I hate NOS, i'm not trying to make it a race truck. I just want when people pass me or look at the truck to say holy s**t!! And i would like it to run somewhere in the 12 sec quarter. Yes i reolize that might take a supercharger, but i guess thats cool.

as for the 350 intake...don't waste the money. they're the same as the cheaper ones...doesn't matter if money's not an issue...it's just principle.

as for yoru rear end...410 w/ a locker seems cool enough. if you that's what you want, get it.

if you wanna run 12 seconds...have fun. will take some major mods...might need to increase that displacement on our engines man.

you know...you actually might be in over yoru head. cause you say you aren't trying to make it a race truck, but wanna run 12's? that's more than a race truck man...that's an effin' hot rod:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=OR8Kt6Cs9yQ

also, if money's not an issue, why'd ya purchase a v6? i'm not even saying you should have gotten an srt or hemi w/ your "no money problem" status...but even the 4.7 isn't too much more expensive, gets same mileage, and it is a lot lot quicker. to me it sounds like you got this truck, not realizing how slow it really is. i have a few bolts ons and those 456 gears, and i run a 17.5...nothing special...but 456 gears in another engine should make a nigh/day difference. i am also running 20" chrome...which probably accounts for a whole second of my ET. adn if money really isn't an issue...the money it would take to make the 3.7 run in the 12's, would cost the MORE than you purchasing a crate.

Thats crazy, my buddy has a 03 4.7l SWB 5 speed stick, intake, throttle body spacer, superchips, and and dual friction clutch. I was driving next to him the other night and we messed around from a 40 punch and a 60, now i don't know why but by all means i pulled on him, i asked him if he was getting on it, he said it was all the way open. And i raced a newer F-150 4.6l from a dig and showed him who his daddy was, what that all about? 17.5 in the quarter, no way, i havn't takin mine to the track yet but i'mdying to see what it'll do.
