I HAVE 35" TIRES WITH 373 GEARS AND I WANT TO UPGRADE THE GEARS. I WOULD LIKE TO BRING THE RATIO BACK TO STOCK SO THAT THE SDEEDO  & TRANS WORK PROPERLY. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY INFO?

The gears wont fix your speedometer you'll need a programmer for that. For gears 4.56s seem popular for your tire size and since you have a 3500 4x4 diesel you must have a steel driveshaft so no worries there.

With the low end torque of your diesel, you don't need to change gears, you got all the grunt at lower rpm's you'll ever need.  This is why we in the "spark plug" crowd do the gears, to get the rpms's up at lower speed so we have some "umph" down low.
The 3.73's are about the most optimum gearing you could have in a CTD for a balance of power and fuel efficiency.
Don't change a thing...

I'm going to move this to the Cummins side, those guys will have infinately more knowledge of your issue as well as the best tuner advice for you...

I've done umpteen posts on gears, ratios, calculations, etc.

Do a search under my user name and gears and you will find a bunch of links to gearing.

Going to 35's from stockers......4.10's would be the closest to stock.....but, going one gear size lower, especially in a 4x4 is a pricey deal.

I usually tell guys that unless you are going to change gears by at least 2 sizes, don't bother.

In this case, that would be 4.56's and with only 35's, those might be a bit too deep for the Cummins RPM range.

If all you want to do is adjust speedo and get your trans to shift where you want it to and add a "little" bit of extra power....go and get a Superchips programmer. They aren't the most powerful, but they have all those options for you. Before you mess with the power options, get a set of gauges.

Here's a few threads that contain some info I've given previously:

This is a good one: http://www.dodgeforum.com/m_1303125/tm.htm

Some good info here: http://www.dodgeforum.com/m_665609/tm.htm

Enjoy.
