Default warms up and dies.

Hello,
I have a 1992 B350 Ram Van with a 360 motor. It has the throttle body injector set-up. It runs like a champ when you first start it, but once it warms up it will buck a few times and die. It will not start up again until the engine has cooled down. Once it is cool, it will start right up and run perfect. It is only warming to operating temp. It is not over heating. I have re-placed the dist. cap, the rotor, and the pick up coil (if that is the thing under the dist. cap). I also changed out the coolant temp. sensor. None of this helped. I also have a brand new fuel pump and fuel filter. It is getting gas. Someone mentioned that it may be the computer (pcm, i guess?) Any advice or place to look would be appreciated!!
Thanks!
Neb.

Did you pull the trouble codes from the computer?

Yes I did. I get codes 12, 37, 55. 12 seems to pertain to disconnecting the battery. 37 seems to pertain to quite a few things, of which, none seem to relate to my problem. 55, I am not too sure of.
Thanks.

Code 55 indicates the end of the list of stored codes.
Code 37 usually indicates a problem with the torque converter lock-up circuit.

The code 37 could explain your problem if the TC lock-up isn't releasing. The circuit is not active until the engine is up to temperature and alocked-up TC will stall the motor. It's the equivalent of letting out the clutch on a manual tranny with your foot on the brake and in gear.

Hello Alloro,
Is there any easy way to check and/or repair this. The van sputters a few times like it is not getting fuel than it dies. There is no sudden jolt or anything. It just cruises to a smooth stop. No funny smells, noises, etc.
Thanks!

If the TC was the problem, you could disconnect the TC wiring connector from the tranny and see if it goes away. However, in re-reading your first post, it doesn't sound like this stalling issue happens when you're in gear. That being the case, a locked up TC won't cause an engine stall unless the tranny is in gear.

I would first connect a test light to the output of the ASD relay and see if it's shutting down just as the engine stalls. If it is, replace the relay.

When the engine dies and won't restart, do you have spark?

Hello,
My headache is back!! The van ran perfectly for about 60 miles and then back to the same problem. I ordered a new PCM from O'reillys, but it will not be in until Wednesday. Any ideas until then? or just get the PCM?
Thanks!!
Ben

At this point I'd just wait and see if the new PCM fixes it.
