Default TOP TIPS FOR ACHIEVING MAX MPG!!!

- BE SURE your vechicle is in top running order. A clean air filter and fuel filter is a must, and your plugs should be in good condition as well.

- SET AND maintain proper tire pressure. Keep a gauge in the vechicle and checking pressures once a month, or more often is there's an extreme change in teperature. To improve mpg, increase to maximum recommened pressure or go slightly over. Adding aire to your tires stiffens them and reduces rolling resistance.

- LIMIT ENGINE warm-up time during winter months. With modern EFi, it's not necessary to let your car idle very long before driving. You can add aftermarket oil hearter/engine heaters to expedite morning also reduces the load on the battery during cold cranking.

- PROBABLY THE most important tip is to keep your foot out of the throttle. It's sounds simple, but under all conditions, do your best to accelerat slowly, using as little throttle pressure as possible to safely get up to speed. IF your vechicle is eqquiped with a vacuum or boost gauge, you can monitor your progress by keeping the needle in full vacuum. As the needle awings twoards zero or when it goes into boost, the engine will be using more gas.

-KEEP A steady speed. Drivers who are constantly in and out of the throttle cause the engine to use excess fuel. It can also make your passengers nauseous. So find a speed you like and stick with it.

-SLOW DOWN! Reducing your speed lowers engine rpm and also lessens the aerodynamic drag on your car or truck, thus improving mpg. If you don't believe me, stick your hand out the window and feel the different between 50 and 70 mph. Greater speed increases the load on the vechicle, and more fuel must be used to push the vechicle through the air.

-DRAFTING, WHILE I don't recommend tailgating, drving behind tractor-trailer or box truckers and/ or busses will cut down on drag and improve milage. The guy on MYTHBUSTER proved this one!!! If you have a pick-up truck, leave the tailgate up. Believe it or not, dropping the gate increase drag and hurts fuel economy.

_WHENEVER POSSIBLE, lifte out your throttle and coast. If you pay attention to what's going on ahead, you can often let off the gas much earlier then you normally would when approaching red light and stop signs or when exiting the highway!!!

Everything that was typed I got this from MUSCLE MUSTANGS & FAST FORDS written by Even J. Smith. Yes I do have amustang gt, Hope this will help everyone. Be safe and have fun!!!

Watching tire pressure is a factor.
