Hi everyone, I think it may have been ages since I have been on here, but I need to replace the brakes on my car. I have done a brake job on my civic, but not on the SRT, any recomendations for brands/parts? Is this something relatively easy to do??

I almost sold her, well almost traded her in for an STI, but just decided to buy the STI and keep the SRT. SOOO now I am the lovely sole owner of an '05 SRT, '05 STI and soon to be '08 EVO. I just CAN'T get rid of the SRT, it has its little issues, I just can't kick it. 3 years ago when I bought the SRT, I never thought I would end up owning all 3!! Crazy.

Thanks for your help with the brakes! Hope everyone is still doing great on here

it has disc brakes all around so i always thought that was much easier and better than drums....i think people usually go for the ceramic brake pads...um...hawk pads?? idk sounds familiar...
i havent had to do mine yet my pads look almost new i guess they were done b4 i bought mine used in arkansas...

i did have to change out the whole entire spindle and wheel bearing on my passenger front wheel though..that sucked..

And how do you have money to buy the 3 fastest sport compact cars?  Did you win the lottery? Your insurance must have sky rocketed!!

I have the Mopar S1 rotors from Mopar Super Center. They have 84k on them (rotors and pads) and still more than half wear left. :) Gotta love em.  Fronts and rears in black, cadium coated and cross drilled with CF pads.

I have autozone duralast all around on my car. It's my DD so I wasn't worried about track use although I've read some people use them just for track. I paid under $300 for 4 rotors and 8 ceramic pads.

After spending 45min. on one corner it took less than that to finish the other three to give you an idea of how easy it is.

Not sure what all you use your skittle for, but here are my suggestions:

Just a daily driver - Hit up Jimmy @ speedandpowerdevelopment.com. Get the V-Line pads ($40). they have a lifetime warranty. Not a typo, LIFETIME!

'Street Racer' or 'Spirited Driver' - Moparsupercenter Stage 1 brake upgrade

Weekend Warrior (car sees the track on occasion) - Carbotech XP8's ($187 shipped / front only) or Hawk HPS' or EBC Yellow Stuff

Total Track Car - Carbotech XP10's or better

And then there is brake fluid. I really like the ATE Super Blue. May be overkill for a daily driver though....

As far as rotors go, I tortured a set of the NAPA OEM replacements at the track last weekend and they held up pretty good. You can pretty much go with any rotor if you are not concerned with the bling factor.

And to this, not that it matters or its any of your business, but my husband recently re-enlisted in the Marines and we decided to purchase 2 new vehicles and keep the SRT until we decide to keep it or get rid of it. I got him hooked on "sport compact cars" I guess!!

And insurance isn't too bad, we haven't found the right EVO yet, so we pay a little over $150 for the STI and SRT full coverage. I am going to hate to see it when we ad the EVO though!

Sorry I wasnt trying to get details of your buisness. Kinda being enthusiastic. I would love to own all 3 of those cars. Just to have them all lined up in my driveway so I can wake up. Look out my window and see those beauties but them again if I was in a bad neighborhood. Only to find all 3 having flat tires cause some jealous neighbors. The reenlsting bonus is quite high right now. So congrats to him!

Sorry for my crappy response!! I shouldn't have taken that way, appologies!

The bonuses WERE quite high, then all of a sudden they ran out of money, their fiscal year doesn't start until October, so we have to wait until then for the EVO, which is fine, I just keep counting the days!!!! :)

I ordered new pads, should be here soon!!!
