I but a 97 plymouth neon sedan about 1 year ago and put in an after market cd player and it worked great. About a montha ago someone tried to steal my car but opted for the cdplayer instead (that sweet girl put up a fight ;). I bought a new cd player and installed it and once again I was listening to my music perfectly. After a few days the sound in all the speakers would cut out and then it left for good. I still have power and everything else workls great but the sound. I checked out all the wiring and speackers and they're fine. I did notice that the car doesn't have a black wire for the ground (never did from the day I bought it) and although I have never connected the cd player ground to anything and have never had a problem, I've run out of ideas and to the problems and am curious as to if this could be causing it. I did noticed that when I unplug the player and plug it back in that the back speackers make a little noise, not music or static but a quick pop type noise, so I believe the speakers are good.
Any help??

There should be a black ground wire somewhere in the radio harness... that needs to be installed to a good chassis ground... period...

You were probally using the ground in the wiring harness.  When they stole the radio they probally screwed it up. You need a ground, either fix the stock one or wire the radio ground to a good ground.

ok sound i got the ground wire all connected now but still no sound in any of the speakers. The parts that is confusing to me is that at first it was only cutting in and out and now its totally out which leads me to believe that its a connection problem but everything else seems fine. I checked all my fuses by the driver side door (by the way, if i remove the fuses for the air bags, will they deploy?) and also checked the ones under the hood. Are there any more that may cause this problem?
