I just recently purchased a new 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 QuadCab with the Hemi and looking to add a new exhaust system and wondering if I can get a little feedback regarding different mufflers. I am looking to get an exhaust system with 2 mufflers and wondering what mufflers to get and where the 2 tail pipes should exit. I was thinking of getting 2 FlowMaster Super 40's or 44's and have both pipes exit behide my back passenger wheels. I am looking for a little bit better performance but also I want that nice rumbling sound as well. I will also be getting a RAMHAMMER to go along with this new exhaust. Would a different brand be better? Thanks

HA HA why do you say that. I searched the forums pretty good, but just looking for a nice soild answer. I had a Flowmaster super 40 on my old 05 truck but it was only a 4.7 and it was only for the sound. Now that I have a Hemi I am wondering if a different brand will be better performance but also have that nice rumbling sound. And I am also looking for a dual exhaust this time with 2 mufflers not just 1. Thanks

Look into the Flowmaster 50 HD for it is specifically made for the Hemis.

What do you think about that muffler cddailey? Are you running dual exhausts? I will be getting the K & N 63-1533 CAI.

I have the 40 series on my 4.7, my friends always tell me they can hear me from a half a mile away, but I have always been curious as to how the 44 series will sound on my truck...

Well from what I been reading I am going to go with the RAMHAMMER CAI, I heard this was the best performance CAI out there, a little extra but I am sure it is well worth it. From what it sounds like, I might get 2 Flowmaster 50 HD mufflers and going to have both tailpipes come out right behind the rear tire on the passager side.

I have a Flowmaster 50HD and am pleased with it, great sound, especially with my CAI and LT Headers. However, if I was going true dual and having two mufflers, then the only way I'd go is with two glass packs, and for a glass pack with awsome sound & great performance - nobody beats Cherry Bombs. And the great thing is they are only about $40 each... http://www.cherrybomb.com/

I don't know too much about cars/trucks, but I will have 1 pipe coming off 1 header then it goes to a Y pipe and then to 2 mufflers. So you are saying those Cherrybomb GlassPacks have better sound and performace the then 2 FlowMasters 50 HD's? Thanks

Thanks Strange, because I believe most of us have 2 cats, making it real easy to go true dual (even though I am going through a "Y" to a single muffler, then splitting again to dual exhaust). The setup you describe above is fine though, it pretty much is single until the split to allow you to use two mufflers. It's an ideal setup for two glasspacks. As far as sound goes, the 50HD is nice, I am happy with the sound and loudness of mine. But I've also hit 40 years old not too long ago, and what is a nice sounding exhaust to me today, would have been whimpy 15-20 years ago. As Flowmaster sound goes, the lower the model number the louder it is. Based on that scale, a Cherry Bomb Glasspack and a Cherry Bomb Extreme would equal about a Flowmaster 10!!! Also, because Flowmasters are a chambered muffler, the design inherently is more restrictive than a glasspack, which basically is a hollow, straight pipe except for the wound fiberglass inside it's walls...

Well from what I remember from looking under my truck, I have the muffler pipe coming off the engine. then right after that is a small bump or increase in size in the pipe, like 8-10 inches long, then it goes down till the muffler and just to the tailpipe. Can I even make mine true dual? I don't think I can cause I need another header coming off the engine right?
