just bought a 2001 dodge ram sport 1500, is a true sport, with 30,000 miles on it. the problem is (or atleast for me) the when you turn the headlight on, you are on the high beam setting . blue indicator is on in dash, when I flip the dimmer switch it will NOT go in low beam , also ALL four bulbs are on (shouldn't the high bulbs be on only????)!!!!! thought is was the dimmer/wiper switch (or as the dealer calls it a multi purpose lever) bought a new one & installed it. no luck,....it  is still "locked" on "hi",  with all four bulbs on, checked relay under hood which is for the quad headlights, it was fine. seem to me that the harness is fine, unaltered.. I think.    this is the weird part, if I  open the hood & unplug both the high beam headlights at the bulb, the dimmer switch works correctly, you can flip it into low beam & the fog light come on,  flip it again into high & the foglights go out, but the low beams are staying on???? shouldn't they have went out also??? asked the guy I bought it from , & he said that the headlights always stayed on high beam since he bought it (second owner). has anyone heard of this???I am guessing the original owner wired it to have all 4 lights stay on. Is this a common mod trick??? if so,  where is the mod usally done???, so i can undo it. I want to be able to flip into "low" beams when needed. ????

if this is not mod, what kind a wiring or part could be bad???? could someone help me out? the dealer said then would need it for 8 hr. minimum to find the problem @ $125.00 an hour, i would rather to fix it myself

uys if you don't know what might be wrong with my truck, can you guy as least tell me the different methods used to make the low beams stay on when with the high beams  on the 99-01 sport (4 light bulbs) , also were would a "brightbox" be installed will check for one of those to & what do they look like?????
hopefully I will be able to figure out what someone did, I guess that they screwed up do whatever it is that they did, I dont think they would have wired it up intensionally not to be able to switch down to low beams.

I have the same problem. I have the non sport ram. High Beam indicator lamp wont turn off when I flip between hi and low. It apears i have 2 plugs for each side. Seems like I have the sport wiring with out the headlight setup. Really Wired. I think I remeber the dealer telling me I had the wrong switch in the dash.

Make sure you have he riht bulb number in there. Having the wrong bulb number can cause weird things to happen. Like switching a 9004 with a 9007, the high beam indicator will stay on all the time, and the high is switched with the low beam. but it plugs right in.

So I'd check to make sure you have the right bulbs in there.

I belive its my headlight switch. Whats really enoying is my low beams seem really dim. I switched to silver stars when i bought the trucks in hopes to fixing it. Didnt make much of a difference.
