Mileage Max - 5/14/2008 2:02:00 PM    zyklor   Posts: 17 Joined: 5/12/2007 Status: offline I'm sure everyone has seen the ad at the top of the page for Mileage Max by Edge Products.  Does anyone have it?  Does it work?  Is the increased MPG, if any, worth the money?  I average 100 miles a day (I have 92000 miles in less than 3 yrs) and with gas prices I'm looking for anything that might give me better fuel economy.  I have a 05' V8 Quad Cab 4x4 and get 13.5 MPG on average. If anyone has any suggestions to get better MPG that doesn't cost too much, please let me know.  My only Mod is a K&N Cold Air Intake.  Thanx Post #: 1

Don't waste your money. My G-tech pulled almost 20hp off a stage 1... For better mileage...   search man.  There have been a hundred posts on this exact thing. More power in theory will increase mileage, since the motor doesnt have to work as hard as "normal"... I came to the conclusion it's the 3:92 gears I drove another Dakota with a 3:55 I beleive and the rpms @ 60 mph were 800- 900 less on the 3:55 gears. (in reply to ericemery) Post #: 4

My last tank with all city driving got 17.6, my last trip got 21.25. I've got a 4.7l auto 2005, Jet Stage 1 with 3.55. I'm going to change to 3.92 to make pulling a 6,000 lb toy hauler easier. I bet my mpg will be awful while towing that trailer. I have to think the variable is the right foot. With the crappy resale on Dodge trucks, I'll be keeping this one for a while. RE: Mileage Max - 5/15/2008 3:41:15 PM    zyklor   Posts: 17 Joined: 5/12/2007 Status: offline I would love to know how some can get as much as 22 MPG!!  I have never done better than 15 MPG.  Most of my 92000 miles is Highway.  I'm not heavy on the gas or brake...  Hell I changed my pads for the first time at about 85000 miles (cant say that for the crappy OE rotors).  I cruise the highways at a consistent 65 - 70 MPH on average.  I know if I slow down to 55 - 60 I could do better but no one drives that slow anymore and even if I do, I cant do better than 15 MPG.  And I dont have to do 0 to 60 as fast as I can when the light turns green.  I have even tried changing brands of Gas and the type and brand of Oil...  All I found out doing that is Sunoco Gas is worse..  I get 12 MPG with Sunoco Gas... dont know why.  And I never use my AC..  Last time I did I got 11 MPG...  This is sad for a truck this size..  My fathers 05' F-250 gets 11.5 MPG and thats with ladder racks and a full tool box adding weight. RE: Mileage Max - 5/15/2008 5:39:47 PM    zyklor   Posts: 17 Joined: 5/12/2007 Status: offline Well Ive searched and read up on several mods that help MPG.  Based on what I have read, would you agree that my best bet for a low cost mod with best potential increase in MPG would be an Electric Fan and 180 stat?  Considering I'm spending about $200+ a week on gas ($3.81/gallon for reg today), I don't have much extra money for much of anything.  With the way the economy is right now, I'm stuck...  Truck isn't worth anything and selling it right now is next to impossible with the mileage and moving closer to work is not possible right now since selling a home in the current real-estate market without loosing money is also next to imposable.  No matter what I do now, our current economy is murder on my wallet.. and I'm sure a lot of others are in the same boat.  Thanx Bush, your doin a great job..... I love my truck but it may be time to look at a Toyota Prius or other small car and parkin the truck....    or i can live out of my truck and stay at work all week..... We bought a used Corolla that gets 35 mpg. The car payment plus gas comes to about half of your gas bill per month. I'll keep my Dak but put most of our miles on the Corolla and when it wears out, get onother one. (in reply to DD064x4QC) Post #: 13
