thanks guys. and yes, it gets applied to the exterior of the lamp. prep is key with this, i know a few people who just dusted the lights and sprayed and it turned out like crap. take the time (just takes a few minutes) to wipe with alcohol and scuff them up. but like i said, most people dont go as dark as i did so its up to you. youll see after just one light layer they look 10x better here are some pics from this morning. most of the time in the day you can see red coming through. im glad i went as heavy as i did. i didnt want that. anyway here are some before i head out of town for the rest of the day and all of tomorrow

They do indeed look awesome. I would like to try that as well. I think I'll try it on my black m/c first though--Night Runner version of a Ninja I guess!

I cant wait to do mine. I wanna just get my black on silver job done. But what I dont get is I know your supposed to sand it to get the paint to stick, but doesnt it make the surface all gritty and stuff? Like with people who paint thier grills, but how come it ends up all shiny and smooth and stuff, I just never understood it.

LOOKING GOOD ....... Long Lost Twins !!!!! hey buddy! been a while since ive seen you on here. im on a lot but dont post nearly as much, it seems a lot of the crew has left or barly post anymore. and thanks i appreciate it. how long did it take? well it depends how fast each layer dries which depends on the temp and humidity along with how thick and how many layers you do. i spent about 4 hours out at the shop just drinkin some beer, listening to music, and talkin with some college buddies i had over. it probably could have been done faster, but then again like i said, most people go with half the layers i did and i did lose track of time with the good company i had. and to tell you the truth, i havent had a chance to buff them like i said i was going to do. i got busy. tomorrow i should have time to take them off, and to tell you the truth, i may try sanding the clear with 1000 grit and buffing it. if i make a small mistake ill sand even and spray another layer or 2 of clear, no problem. honestly, it probably doesnt need sanded and could get away as it is or just buffed but im pretty anal about my stuff. if you look in my night pics above, you can see one of my license plate lights is dim, so i ordered and just got new leds for that. check out vleds.com they make some that shoot 90 degrees and is perfect for the license plate. ok im off subject now. ill let you know tomorrow if i can get it quite as smooth and glossy as the paint and i will take pics too. but honestly, its pretty glossy with that clear on. without its more of a satin, i wouldnt go so far as to say flat, def more satin. but i def wanted to seal it with something, and clear is perfect, it glossed it up a bit more. so tomorrow, i will try to get it as smooth and glossy as the paint, and i will take daytime brake pics for you guys. as to where to buy niteshade. well, it is made by VHT and it has to be purchased online. i got mine from summit racing, i figured they are midranged in price that i found however i knew the name and trusted using them than most other places i found it. here is a link. i ordered 2 cans, it could probably be done with one, but i ordered 2 just in case. i did my tails and my cargo lamp. i used 1 can and maybe 1/4 of the 2nd. i also bought 2 cans of clear at autozone but didnt even finish one, however they were a bit larger. oh and also, you can tape off the reverse part of the lights if you wish. then before you clear take off the tape and clear the whole deal so it comes out smooth and even. i know people that have done it, however i didnt want to. and like i said, i went A LOT darker than most people. honestly, even after one light coat, it looked 100x better. dont go too thick at one time. take your time and do it layer by layer LINK BELOW http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1∂=VHT%2DSP999&N=700+4294922165+1002+115&autoview=sku
