It has a spring loaded plunger that plugs a hole in the back of the throttle body. By letting a controled amount of air to bypass the throttle body at idle it can control idle speed. I cleaned it up nicely is there any way to test it to see if it is working ? I ordered a front and rear O2 sensor off of Summit. RE: Stall at Idle. - 5/8/2008 7:18:33 PM    RangerMateo   Posts: 19 Joined: 12/23/2006 Status: offline While replacing the IAC, you should pull the whole throttle body and clean it well.  Also, seafoaming the engine helped significantly for my idle stalls as well.  (They continued after the new IAC then I pulled everything, cleaned it, seafoamed it, and the problem is gone now). Smoked the whole block out haha. The comp stores the settings for sensors and when you switch out to a new sensor its just going to be giving it old information. +1 on cleaning the throttle body. Ill check the connections but im 99% posotive its snapped in because i like triple checked everything after i did it. RE: Stall at Idle. - 5/11/2008 8:02:19 PM    RangerMateo   Posts: 19 Joined: 12/23/2006 Status: offline Mine had the exact same symptoms and the IAC / TB cleanout fixed it.  There was a break-in type of period that it seemed like it was hunting for idle, but after about 100 miles it settled down just fine.  As for the initial temperature corrolation, is it possible that the higher temps could have just softened up the varnish on the rod?  Mine was pretty covered in nastiness.
