Welcome to DF... nice truck! I dont think I've ever seen one like it. I just sold a 4x4 QC 4.7 not too long ago, sweet truck but needed something that got way better mileage for commuting (170 mi/day)... anyways, welcome & enjoy the site.

cool truck...as far as the color goes, check the door sticker and it will have the paint code there as well as in the vin number. im assuming that is is a factory dodge color if it was built at the dodge factory. if you can manage to find the paint code in one of those two places, id sandblast and paint the rollbar to keep original parts on that truck since you say they only made 50 of them, thats a pretty special truck. in 2001 they had what sounds like 2 different red paint colors....PR4 - Flame Red, Clear Coat, and, PRV - Dark Garnet Red, Pearl Coat. they also had this, but it sounds like it might be orange to me...PV3/PVL - Amber Fire, Pearl Coat.

here is a link you can request a build sheet and they will send you back everything thats on your truck and it should explain everything. first time i've ever seen one of those as well. http://www-5.dodge.com/wccsapp/universal/D/index.jsp?appStr=wccs&titleStr=Contact+Dodge&familyStr=brand&franchise=D&actionURL=%2Fwccs%2Fbrand_forms%2Fus%2Fwebform.jsp&promotion=null&category=R

Go to a paint shop and get them to match the color, and whip up a batch, paint it with a gun. That will at-least give you the same color, but cost a bit more but better quality and color!

i do detailing for a living...unless your clear coat is flaking or burnt off and there is absolutly no shine to the paint at all, you can bring back that smooth shine that it had when it was new.... depending on how bad it it, and it doesnt look too bad from the pics, i would use a name brand "polishing" compound, NOT "rubbing" compound. rubbing compound is more abrasive than polishing compound. hand apply and machine buff it off, then use a good carnuba paste wax, not a liquid wax. OR, better yet, use a clay kit. maguires is a good brand for that. as far as wax goes, always use carnuba based, not synthetic waxes. carnuba will last over a year if your truck is carported or garaged and out of the sun. if you dont park under cover, id wax twice a year and id use eagle one spray nanowax about every 2 or 3 times you wash it. also, never take it to an automatic wash place, always hand wash, from the top to the bottom. my truck is 10 years old and had been taken care of before i got it so i just improved on what was already there...the paint looks like new on mine except for the few fine wear and tear scratches and i got most of those out just by using polishing compound and good wax products. if you knew this already, dont mind me, just trying to help... its some hard work, but you can do it in a day easily with some help, and its cheaper than a new paint job and then your roll bar will match.

i honestly wouldnt worry about the paint matching...your trucks paint looks awesome, like new, and taking the roll bar off to get repainted shouldnt be a problem unless it isnt a factory color. if it is a factory color, which im betting it is, then that is a very common color and dodge used that red at least thru 2004 and it will be very easy to match. if it isnt a factory color, you can take it to a reputable body shop and they can match it with a paint chip off the roll bar itself. they can match paint with computerized color matchers. even if it isnt up to your standards, most good shops will be more than happy to make it right until you are happy.

yeah, shops are good at paint matching anymore...it used to be that a person had to paint the whole car to get a good match...a few years ago i had a camaro that was rearended and was all worried about the paint matching, but it turned out perfect and you couldnt even tell it was hit. id say just go to a good reputable shop and dont be the slightest bit satisfied until it is perfect in your eyes. that marquis looks great by the way. i have always thought it would be fun to take an old cop car crown vic and make it hot...all black with dark windows, grill, and wheels...but that is another subject lol

Thanks.. I babyed that car.. it was my first ever car of my own.. in my name.. I got mad one day and went out and bought it.. hubby come home it was sitting in the drive way.. cause he blew up my crown vic.. that was in his name.. LMAO.. but as for the crown vic.. we have a old cop car.. 92.. that is fairly clean as well.. the one he blew up.. and we put a *cough* 360 in it... few more things to finish up.. but that motor was in our 76 dodge half ton.. only had 60thousand ks on it...when the hubby was in accident so we kept the motor.. and thats what it rests in now.. LOL...
